Hi, We are definitely doing disney florida this August, just need to see if this sounds right, we are being quoted by James villas Approx £6,000 for a 3/4 bed villa, with private pool in kissemee , car hire and flights for a fortnight, does that sound about right?

Being based in kissemee is right asuming we are only 20/25 mins away from everything? Thanks x

6 passengers in total, 3 under 18's which i know they go as adults as they are 13,15,17 at time of travel. We also want gatwick to fly from as we are in Crawley so airport is 5 mins away.

    Thanks x

  • Hi, I won a holiday to Florida, Thankyou toysrus.
Just really wanted some info on recommended spending money per day, which parks to visit, best time of year to go (later in year the better), so we can set up a saving plan.
I don't have much info at the moment other than holiday for 4 (there's 5 of us so hoping we can add extra person), flights, hotel & bus ticket to park included.
    Thanks

    Congratulations to you!

I've been to Orlando twice and both times in November. Still warm in the daytime (sometimes very hot) only an odd chilly or rainy day but it does cool in the evenings a bit but not cold and not too busy. However I went in November because it was cheaper, as you've won your holiday you might want to go a little earlier for possibly slightly more reliable weather but I would avoid the summer - too hot/stormy/busy etc.

    Enjoy!

OK - am booking for the first time October 14 - 28 (this year). There will be myself, my OH and my little boy (he will be 7). We like the idea of a suite so that we can relax a little and not feel forced to go out and eat etc etc. The cheapest deal I have found including flights, car, suite etc ranges from £2300 - £2500. The 3 are:

    Homewood suites by Hilton

    Hawthorn Suites

    Enclave Suites

All I want to know is have I found a good deal (always nice to have confirmation) and has anyone stayed in the accommodation I have found and can make any recommendations?

******Edit****** !!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!! - just realised flights aren't direct, they seem to go Via Charlotte. Back to the drawing board. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Looking at 14 nights either 14 - 28 October or 20 October - 03 November.

Thanks for all of your help!

    Hi Minster

It doesn't strike me as a great deal on first glance, especially for an indirect flight. Does the car include all the insurance etc? If yes then it's better.

Your dates cover half term which would normally push up the price.

I'd have a target price of £1400 for the 3 flights, then probably £500 for suite type accommodation for a fortnight (try somewhere like Floridays / Bahama Bay / Cypress Pointe - we had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment for £36 a night in the past)

We want to go during school holidays so October seemed like the best solution. Summer - too busy, Xmas - we have been away twice for Xmas and it just wasn't Xmas! & Easter - wouldn't allow us enough time to save.

We went for October half term just gone and it was hot and then started to get colder after half term. Maybe go from around 18th for 2 weeks so you can have Halloween there and it'll still be hot.

it was in the 90's when we was there - we are not hot weather people at all and in the UK stay in when it is too hot, but over there it was lovely and we found it bearable. In fact we are talking about going in the 2nd half of August next time.... oooer!!

With it being so warm we was able to go to the pool in the evening for example, so we would be out for the day and then go swimming. In November it was way too cold and we needed fleeces and longer trousers in the evenings for the 3rd week - maybe this was because we had got used to the heat for the 10 days before, but it was so nice to go out and come home in shorts and tees and then go swimming. We also found we ate less when it was hotter as we just did not feel like it.

I agree it doesn't seem great for indirect flights - I had mistakenly assumed they were direct (hence the edit!!!!). Cheapest direct flights I can find seem to be more around the £1900 mark - if I could find them for £1400 I would book them immediately!!!! Can you let me know where you can find flights that cheap?

I am thinking of taking my children to Florida in Feb half term in 2012. Just wanted to get some advice as have been to the US before but never Orlando.

My children will be 6 & 8 at the time of travel and I wondered will I be ok without a hire car if I stay in a hotel around Kissimee or International Drive? Also will 7 days be long enough? I don't really want to take them out of school for longer than a day or two and Feb prices seem to be around £2,200 for flights and a 3/4* hotel.

Ideally I'd like to take them to Disney and maybe Wet & Wild but open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance

I dont see an issue with NOT hiring a car on International Drive, we never have done and have travelled with a child.

Having said that, there are folks who insist that you simply MUST have a vehicle in Orlando / Florida.

If you choose a half decent hotel, they will have a free shuttle to the parks anyway, most do.

As for Wet N Wild, we liked it years ago, but its a bit tatty these days unfortunately. If water parks are a must try one of the water park and more Disney tickets, we love the Disney waterparks.
