jmr, I just wanted to check that your calculations are based on 3 adults and 1 child, as your 16 year old will have to pay adult rates for everything. We are going to Orlando over Easter next year and have had pay for 4 adults as my sons will be 12 and 15. Hence us using a ton of airmiles, taking indirect flights and still spending over £3000 without any park tickets.0

Blue-monkey......... you are right to plan for the Toy Story mania ride - we went in May this year. We were near the front of the rope drop at MGM, and it was crazy!! People literally running (and fast!) to TS mania ride. We just went straight in the queue, and were among the first to ride. When we came off the ride, there was a huge queue for the fastpass machine, and the queue for the ride was already 1hour long!!
When we passed by at lunchtime, the FP's had all been given out for the day, and the queue was 3hours long! (and it stayed 3hours long for the rest of the day).
The ride is great fun though. Worth the run! But not worth a 3hour queue.0 -
Regarding Toy Story Manis - We always get a FP first and go straight on the ride - first thing in the day, the line will move very quickly as there aren't any FP slots for when the ride first opens, so you're only competing with everyone else in the standby line.
We joined the line at five minutes past park opening and the posted wait was 40 mins, but we were on within 10.0 -

I immediately developed a twitch when I read your message, convinced I'd got something wrong! I'm pleased to say that the price of the flights is correct, but I think its because we are looking at dates 11mths ahead, and Easter is peak time, according to what I have read. Also Virgin flights do a child price up to the age of 12. The other costs are also correct and I have just checked several other Key West dates and there's a massive difference in price according to dates. The other replies I have had are really helpful and if we did this type of thing frequently I would probably be more confident, but this will be a one-off trip for us. I lack confidence with holiday arrangements and a two centre break does make it seem more complicated. Also it seems that advance planning is required as flights need to be booked early to get the good deals, so even at this early stage I need to make a commitment on dates. I know lots of people love planning and doing a countdown, but I think I want this booked and out of the way and then I can stop worrying about it for a while!0 -
We paid £2100 this year for flights, just priced up the same week for next year and it is £2800.
Wow. Gotta start saving more Clubcard points I think,, will use those towards flights and rubbish accomodation and go off to OWK/SSR!!0 -
I'm so sorry if I worried you jmr, that wasn't my intention at all.
I'm another "first timer" and understand your confusion, I spent what seemed like an age researching everything and still had problems with airmiles and flights. I got told on 3 different occasions that I could use them for flights and then was told that there were none available. Of course by then all the cheap flights with other operators had been snapped up.
My apologises again jmr. I hope you have a wonderful, stressfree holiday.0 -
Estatic. The costumes have arrived and have been tried on. All I can say is the women in the Disney picture must have been 7ft as it skims my ankles but was just under the knee on her.
DS is sitting watching TV with his dalmation costume on as I type this - they are furry so at least I'll not have to carry a fleece for them that night and they will be warm.
My husband is still not buying him being a dalmation though, spoilsort, LOL. Any ideas what I can suggest so he does not ruin our theme? Am thinking on Horace, flat cap, brown roll neck, trousers and waistcoat - but will anyone else get who he is supposed to be?0 -
Also, I got an email from Virgin, you are in the flying club (anyone can join) can get 5000 bonus flying miles if you buy an ISA before 30th November. Details here: http://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/va/?cm_mmc=UK%20Email-_-Cheetahmail-_-virginmoneysolus-_-sep10
You have to save a minimum of £50 a month of £500 so it might be a good way to save the holiday money and then book flights with the points and money.0 -
