Hi,
wow this thread is huge! i'm trying to book accomodation for 4 people near orlando. looking for as cheap and close to the resort as possible. any recommendations are welcome, i have no clue about this stuff.
they are flying to miami airport, which i've read is 200 miles away. can anyone tell me what transport from the airport to orlando is likely to cost?

tia.
miami airport is roughly 240 miles i did it a few times in march and can say it takes minimum of 3 hours with no traffic.
best bet for transport would be to hire a car then drop it off in orlando i would think.
for a party that size then i would be looking at a villa,i have booked a 2 bed sleeps 6 villa for next september for £650 for 2 weeks.
best bet is have a look on www.thedibb.co.uk loads of info on there about villas etc.0 -
Looking at orlando leaving in about 10 days.. nothing like leaving things to the last minute, huh?:rotfl:
Thinking about a 5 day hopper pass for disney.. someone has said that you can buy them cheaper at certain walmarts in the orlando area.. how correct is this? and does anyone know what 'cheaper' actually is??!!
If not, where is the best place to buy the 5 day hopper? obviously there probably isnt enough time to get the tickets sent out to us so what can we do? I read on the earlier pages here about maple leaf.. are they reliable??? TIA0 -
Hi Ickle Me, we're in the same boat, booked this week and leave in less than two weeks! :j
There's quite a few of the florida ticket places that do Orlando pickups, they usually mention on the websites. I think (but check this first as this is from memory from 2008) that undercover tourist does it. Have a read through their delivery info and see what you can findAiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012

I hunted around for 2 weeks looking at lots of diff websites and forums and travel companies, finally booking virgin flights and a intermediate car with full insurance for £3640. I will book a villa for between £395-£450 pw in a few months as there are SO many to choose from.
There were so many options to choose from, I could have flown indirect with 1 change and reduced the cost by £180 but tbh for me that was too little a saving so I've opted for direct flights.
If I had booked a package holiday for the same thing with say.....first choice, just an example I would be looking at a cost of approx £7000.
So by booking separately I will be saving a whopping £2000!
We are going for a villa so we have total flexability, the downside is paying for parking in the parks every time we visit but the plus points far outweigh the negative ones, we get 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms a games room, our own swimming pool, a great kitchen to prepare food for the parks and if we fancy staying in and chucking some food on the barbie then we can...
You could write down all the things apart from the parks that you want from this holiday and that should help you come to a decision.
Good luck with booking.
How did you book your flights ? Can#'t do it online yet, as the return flights in August are not yet available, did you phone them? We are looking to book asap, we have already got a villa on hold, but need to book the flights!0 -

I'm out in Orlando on business in November, and have tacked a week of holiday onto my trip (very mse!
). Anyways, I'm not too interested in Disney but fancy visiting the Universal parks and maybe Seaworld (since my hotel is very near there).
Any ideas as to where the best deals for tickets can be found?

Staying at Floridays on International Drive, anyone stayed there?
All I have left to do is hire the car. Driving over there is the only thing Im worried about.
Hi we got back from Florida on Thursday morning, the weather while we were there was about 95 a day with a heat index that made it feel more like 105 - it rained / stormed most days, but our last 2 days it rained most of the day - not torrential and it was alot cooler in the mid 70's.
We flew into Miami cos hubby works at heathrow and we got a really good deal with BA, broke the drive up on the day we arrived by spending a night outside of Miami (about 40 mins from airport) the drive the next day to orlando took about 2 hrs 20 mins, but we did leave Boca Raton about 5 in the morning when we were awake and made it to Orlando and the first Dennys the boys saw around 7.30 a.m. (not my choice but theirs fro breakfast).Fibro-Warrior0
