Hi all, been many times to Florida/parks, so next Spring we are travelling around North Florida, Georgia and South Carolina by way of a change. We are flying in an out of Sanford as we got a far better deal on flights than flying to Atlanta.

As we have to return via Sanford, we are thinking of spending the last two nights (one full day by time we have travelled down) in Kissimmee primarily to see HP (hoping queues lighter by then!).Anyone got an idea of the cheapest way to do this? We don't need week-long tickets and the Universal Hotels are pretty pricey considering we would be paying for two nights, but would only have time for one day in park.

Thing is, once you add tickets on the price does shoot up and I think this is what the poster meant. We have paid around £1700 for tickets for 4 of us without starting on other day trips. It will cost around £1400 for the Disney Tickets alone.

What is your budget? It costs a lot of money to go to Florida for 4, let alone for 6. The 10 year old will be classed as an adult and will need adult tickets to get into the parks.

To be honest, just under £1000 per person for flights, accomodation, car and including park tickets is not a bad price.

As a starting point for a budget we would allow:
    flight £500, x 6 = £3000
Villa £400-£500 per week, so £800 - £1000 for two weeks
    Car + Ins, about £300-£400
Park Tickets £350 pp (childrens ticket prices are not much less than adults), so x 6 = £2100
    Total £6200 - £6500 for 6 people
2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shading
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end
    MFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
    2021 £1250.00, 2022 £1500.00, 2023 £1500, 2024 £1350
    2025 target = £1200, YTD £460

  • Hi one2escape when we stay in florida we stay at this condo http://www.nextdoortomickey.com/rates.html its from £350 for jan. It's a double room en suite and 2 twin bedrooms. We stayed at villas before but found this a similar size just without a pool.It has a shared pool in the complex but to be honest we never used it cuz we were always out at parks or shoppin so can't comment on it. Full kitchen so you can do your own breakfast and have drinks in fridge. Also handy to 192 for food and not hard to find.
We got our tickets from http://www.orlandoattractions.com/ they sent them in the post to us in the uk before we left which was great as I was worried about collecting tickets there. They were the best price at the time too, but I think the dibb website has a spreadsheet on the forum to compare ticket prices for up to date deals.

Thats the problem the tickets. Getting there is very affordable and cheaper than a summer holiday ;) but its the tickets, thats the killer. I am now resigned to never bringing the kids to Florida. I have been many times before and love it but we are hammered on the tickets. The reason we where considering is that I am getting a lump sum in a number of weeks time and after paying of debts etc I will have around £7000 to play about with. Its go to Orlando and have the memories or update the decore of the house etc, have a good Christmas with the kids and a normal Spanish holiday in the summer. It has to be this Jan to go as its my Oldest child last year at primary school and so the last time we could take him out. Going in the summer is far to expensive a quick price with Virgin was £6000 just for the flights and villa .

That is why I am depressed :(

looking at going to Florida in 2011 - there are 7 of us (all adults) and we are looking for flights villa and car hire anywhere under 30minutes from Disney etc.

We are flexible in when we go - can anyone recommend best time of year?
We are flexible in where we stay - is it cheaper in hotel or villa?
When is best time to buy theme park passes - when we get there or early as possible?

Any other practical advice or links are welcome - last time we went to Florida was 1997 haha

try www.ocean-florida.com as they can put together a package based on what you want and not what the big operators say you can have. they should be able to give sound advice on all the when where what etc. we used them last year and had a brilliant time. they arranged a villa for 9 of us less than 30minutes from Disney.
as for tickets, there are lots of suppliers out there, have a look at Disney for their standard prices and then compare the other outlets.
TIP: We ate out every night and made the mistake of ordering for the group as a whole until we saw that there was a minimum service charge (tip) of around 18% for groups of six or more at a lot of restaurants. We started ordering as two groups after that, saving upto 8% if you use 10% as a standard tipping level (18% of $300 = $54,whereas 10% of $150 = $15, x 2 = $30. saving $24 - simples!)

more tips!: rent one minibus rather than two cars as its at least $12 per day to park at the theme parks (and it means only one driver if you go out for the night!).
at the theme parks, don`t queue for rides as a group, use the single rider queue if available. you may not ride together but queueing time will be shorter.
