Going to Florida for the first time in October. It'll be 5 of us including a 7, 11 and 13yr old. Getting a bit confused about what tickets would be best. I think I'm veering towards the Flexticket but it seems funny to go to Florida and not go to Disney! Also, if I go for the Flexticket is it worth paying an extra £160 for the Flexticket Plus to go to Busch Gardens or would it be a better option to just go for the Flexticket and try and pick up one day tickets for the Magic Kingdom? I know it's very subjective but it would be good to see if their was a general consensus.

The thing with Orlando, is that you want to do everything, as there is so much to see and do, and you can end up with too many tickets. I know I have been there and had that tee-shirt.

You really have to sit down and decide what type of rides attactions are best suited to your family. I guess you are drawn to universal due to the bigger rides.

I can't go without going to Dsney, as for me this is the best bit. So we buy the 14 day tickets, as you can hop (go to different parks on the same day including water parks) and they work out quite cheap per day in terms of value.

The flexi ticket gives you admission to all the other parks.

You may be better buying the disney tickets and then buying the Universal 2 park ticket. These are usually valid for 7 consequetive days from first use. I wouldn't bother with Sea World, it is very nice, but there are better parks (Disney),

Also if you stay at a disney hotel Moderate or above at a certain time of year, you get free dining plan with your hotel, you have to buy disney tickets for the full duration of your stay if staying with a uk company. However, this pays in itself for the cost of the park tickets. Last year, we had the free dining plan, I kept all of our receipts and the food would have cost us around 950.00, we had some amazing meals a lot with characters which your kids will love too. You also get unlimited entry to all Disney waterparks, which are so much nicer than acquatica and wet and wild.

The year before I stayed outside of Disney and we still spent 700.00 on food, hence my draw to staying on-site with the free dining.

This year we have 14 day Disney tickets and the 2 park universall, due to harry potter opening, my DS 11 is now also allowed on the leg dangler type of rides so universal is the better draw from him. Having visited 5 times now, we won't spend anytime in Universal Studios, although it is good for first time and second time visitors.

Sorry for long reply. Have a look at a website called DIBB for a lot more specialist info, than you will find on here.

Edit - Busch gardens is a nice park, with action packed rides and worth a visit, if you decide on the 14 day option with limited disney. Once you have been to Florida, you will want to go again and again and again, its a bit of a bug.

If you only do one Disney park, then it has to be the Magic Kingdom, and make sure you see Spectromagic and the fireworks during the evening. The first time I saw them I cried.

Ooh, also, Disneys Boardwalk, have not been there but have read there is always a lot going on there in the evenings and you can watch the fireworks at Epcot from there too.

There is a resturant called Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club hotel on the Boardwalk, that sells lovely ice creams, and you can also try a kitchen sink, if there are a few of you to share it.

you could get the flex ticket and then get discounted used disney tickets from a booth on i-drive with a couple days left/it is down by wooden go kart track,we went in march and had a week pass each for disney and due to hotel issues did not spend second week in miami as planned.we bought used ultimate tickets that had 2 days left but were still valid for another 7 days from memory they cost $100 the pair you can then go to guest relations at any disney park and have days added for $3 per day so long as they have time left before the 14 day expiry is up.

    Hi Guys

A while ago I remember seeing a sort of calendar that shows roughly which parks are quieter on what days, does anyone have a link to such a thing? Thanks!

Hi all, thanks for all your replies to my question (car or no car), I just needed to know if it was worth hiring the car, The travel agent told me not to bother as I would be on i Drive and would`nt need one, but after reading all your comments, I have decided to add one onto our holiday, I think it will make life a lot easier when it comes to shopping and getting to the parks.

I think you've made the right choice.

It's perfectly possible to do Orlando without a car, but the car will make certain things easier.

    Have fun!
  • Sorry if this is really obvious but I just want to make sure before I buy tickets. If I buy the Disney 7 day base ticket with water park fun does that give me 7 days at the parks PLUS 7 seperate trips to the water parks ie. 14 days worth of trips? If so it seems a better deal than the 14 day ultimate ticket that would cost me about £230 more.
