No probs at mo with ICKY
What's ICKY?
Are you referring to ICICI?0 -
Lisyloo
I was just thinking about my response to derrick's message when I saw yours - you must have read my mind! I could not have put it better. Thanks.
derrick
Jumping to conclusions again without knowing the facts? I do not and never have worked for a bank or BS. I just like to take a balanced view.
I think you have shown your true colours however, when you refer to "one of these money grubbing companies". So they are all the same are they derrick and of course the only "valid" points are yours. That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0 -
Closed my account on 25th April,no cheque yet!0

For the benefit of lisyloo and Zwicky,
The account was never a fixed term, it was and is instant access, no I do not know the full terms and conditions, probably like you, and no, I have not quoted T&Cs nor am I going to start searching for them, it is classed as easy access account and if it is THIS one, which may be their new one, it says interest paid monthly into the account, however at the moment I cannot see the T&Cs for this account, keep getting error.
I recently received an email from Cahoot, along I assume with countless others, informing me of their new LOCAL call rate number, 0844 9000900, another money grubbing exercise to con more money out of callers by lying to them about the cost of the call.
It might not be illegal? But it is certainly wrong, and as we know on this site re the illegal charges made by the banks and the money they are now having to give back, that T&Cs are not always enforceable.
I do not have anything to the contrary about the CHAPS payment and from where they took this charge, but it goes to show the depths they will sink to so as to keep more of customers monies, I think I got the money earlier than they originally said because I kicked up a stink, but it still took 12 days to get to me, by cheque (this is an internet acc and should have been paid electronically)
I am not the only one on this thread with similar views but you seem to want to lock horns only with me. I do not need to recoup the losses, it is the principle that is the point, as more on this thread think as well.
Mine are not the only valid points, but as far as I am concerned they are all tarred with the same brush, but if any of you two can show me where the terms are that say they can keep the interest after closing the account then send it by cheque then do so, it is by their definition an internet account, yet they choose to send the interest on it by snail mail.
No I do not intend to pursue it as the monetary value as I already said is not worth the hassle. This site is for the benefit of everyone and each to their own opinion, you have yours and I have mine, just because mine do not go hand in hand with yours you get upset, well get over it, I now have all of my money from this bunch of *ankers and they will not get any of mine again, however I suppose another thread will start up again with another bunch or maybe even the same ones in the future because they are all of the same ilk
We cannot expect any decency from banks and BS’s. but they should realise that without people depositing money with them, they would not have a business, the top 5 banks last year made a profit of around £32,000,000,000, I would imagine a lot of it from screwing the public.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
My wife and I both closed our accounts 3 weeks ago, we have received letters confirming closure of accounts but no cheques for interest- TOTAL £3,222. DISGUSTING SERVICE. They are making a profit by keeping our money.0

So derrick,
We are agreed then, that everything you have said is your opinion only and you have no facts whatsoever to put forward for it being illegal i.e. wrong in the eyes of the law. OR contrary to anything they promised in their terms and conditions.
Furthermore you don't think it's worthy of being pursued either for your own benefit or the benefit of others.
Agreed?
I would certainly be spending my time elsewhere is this was my posistion.0 -
Well derrick you are in a bit of a muddle aren't you? You have no idea what account you had, can't find the Cahoot T&C (try the site map and legal info) and even if you could you don't want to read them!
Not a very good start for someone making accusations of illegal activities and using derogatory names and expletives in their posts is it?That may have been what I said but what meant was.....0 -
You should also be aware that making false accusations IS illegal (can't remeber whether it's slander or libel).
You are not anonymous on these boards.
A company can get a court order to force the hosting site to provide your details. MSE would be forced to comply.
You cannot make unsubstantiated allegations with impunity.
There is legal precedent for this.
I suggest doing some research and producing some FACTS before making allegations.0 -
I cannot really see what all the fuss is about waiting far too long and losing money. I count my blessings that I have managed to make some free money by merely saving it in an account. The fact that I have now closed my account and have to wait a few days is neither here nor there and it definitely is not life threatening. The cheque I receive is going to go towards paying my mortgage and that's great - the fact that I've lost a few pence/punds - big deal.
Look at it this way, if you want a service where you can instantly get at your money, close your account instantly and put your money instantly somewhere esle then you would have to have an account at a branch and they would not pay as good an interest rate as an internet account - you make your bed you lie on it.0 -
Whoa, cut the atmosphere with a knife... Sounds like much ado over a couple of quid, which has probably been spent in internet charges on this site ;op
Instant access accounts would be a different kettle of fish and you can't have your cake and eat it... can I fit another one in? Yes - A stitch in time saves nine!
And for the record - what is 'money grubbing'? Is it grubby money grabbing?
