Because I'm responsible enough to take my rubbish down to the bins, I don't see why I should have to be reponsible for anyone else's just due to laziness.

It can't be that much of a problem if you won't move it because it's not "your responsibility".

Are you not around on a weekend when you can knock on the door during the day?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Well, I've seen her before, when I first moved in, she's in her 20s and doesn't seem to have any problems with getting out, the only time I ever hear anything is when she and friends return home from a night out at 4am-ish on a sat or sunday morning, which is most weekends, so I can't see why she would have any problems, I think it's just laziness tbh. The main bins are in the ground floor cupboards, either 3 flights of stairs or a lift ride down, so it's hardly taxing..

But didn't you think it was the same bag she keeps putting out and taking in? That seems like strange behaviour. Like you say, if she's on her own how can she accumulate so much food waste each day...? Put a mark on the bag and check it when she puts it out.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

Perhaps the bag IS your neighbour?

I have tried knocking on the door on a Saturday morning before work, but it wasn't answered. I work almost every sat and sunday too, from lunchtime until past midnight, so again it's not really feasible for me to knock on the door when I return, although the fact that I hear people return to her flat at about 4am most weeks, means that she wouldn't be in anyway.

I guess that came across wrong, I just don't see how I should be the one having to take responsibility for moving her rubbish - if I do that once it will become expected..?

But it is disgusting, and will soon become a health hazard if something isn't done.

Staffie - I think it's the same bag and has been there for over a week, don;t think it's been taken back in..

    Knock on her door.

Tell her you've just seen a rat.

And ask her to move her rubbish.

I had problems a while back when some of our neighbors kept leaving rubbish at the back door. it's my responsibility to keep this area clean and tidy and clear of all rubbish it's in my contract.on top of that my bin was always full when i hadn't even used it, So i scanned a letter head from our HA and printed a letter saying please note all occupants etc use bins allocated to your property. referred to their contract's and said to be courteous to other neighbors.

They still think it was from the HA and it worked have not had to move a bag since but still have someone using my bin but i guess you can't win them all.

Well, I assume she rents, as 90% of the flats are rentals, but I have just bought mine, therefore intend to be there for a long time, which is why I'm concerned with being a nuisance to her as I obviously don't want to cause any fued etc. Also means I don't have a contract lol, but the corridor areas are communal, so surely a joint effort to keep them tidy and free from this problem??

If she isn't in, just stick a note in her door asking her to move it.

I was at the bus stop once and a woman put her bin out onto the pavement - about 10 days before it was due to be collected! I made her take it back into her garden :o
