    Hey Debt Free Wannabe's!!!

Yesterday I did a race...(reason for camping trip) I wont go into too many details but it was the most fightening thing I have ever done...even scarier than my debt! Spent 4.98 the WHOLE DAY! Whooo hooo ....but thats not really that impressive considering I was in the middle of nowhere...actually...now that I think about how did even manage to spend 4.98??

TODAY though...are you ready...are you steady....MY first No SPEND DAY!!! Hip Hip Hooooraaaayyyy!

PLUS I spent day at the parent and at my sisters...told them my tales of woe... and I left with 3 bags of food!!! 3 bags...and its good stuff aswell people!!!

Best freebie....erm... a bag of Ikea meatballs:

    Cost: £3.95
How happy the will make me: PRICELESS!
It's not mastercard, its fridge of mum and dad!

    Todays lesson: Guilt trips work!!!

    Betty’s Statement of Affairs

    On a monthly basis:

    Income:

    Wage: 1,850

    Wow that was easy…hard part:

    Outgoings:

    Rent: 360
    CT: 81
    Power: 15
    TV: 7
Car: 200 (Not included in Debt below, 800 o/s)
Gym: 30 (Tied into till December)
    Phone 40
    Travel Pass 40
    Petrol 50
    Food 150
    Pass: 12
    985

    Debt Min Payments

    BOS CC: 270 (Balance: 5,600)
    BOS O/Draft 1 15 (Balance: 400)
    BOS O/Draft 2 40 (Balance: 1,800)
    M&S Card: 60 (Balance: 2,200)
    Barclay Card 20 (Balance: 300)
    405 (Total 10,300)

    Left Over: 460!

Again trying to be realistic thinking of budgeting 50 quid per week for makeup, nights out, dinners etc, 50 to birthdays etc on average one a month and put the other 250 to the debt along with taking the 405 on min payments and once done balance transfers use that aswell? Then by Christmas have cleared Bos card approx 2,800 should be on (only one not balance transferred) and have cleared my Overdraft???

    Yes? :D
    No?
    Maybe?? :rotfl:

    Hi Betty

Loving your diary so far :) I am very new to this site too (joined yesterday) and getting used to all this money saving business. It is becoming quite addictive actually.

Am attempting my first NSD today, nearly gave in and bought milk but luckily my Mum happened to pop round with some (no idea why though) also stopped me from buying the essential biscuits to go with tea.

Anyway good luck with your debt free journey x
  • Hi Betty,

Well done for putting a plan together! I'm in a similar position and would struggle to tell family (parents and sisters) about this as I feel so bad and they'd be really worried about it. I've decided to stop putting my head in the sand and am going to face up to things too.. I've put my debts below and also used a spreadsheet I found on here to keep track of spending and debts. hopefully it will motivate me!

    Good luck.

Keep sharing tips and ideas- I'm choosing cheap supermarket brands.. some are half the price of items I'd usually buy -and taste fine! Do it ;-)

hi, was just thinking about why you got KB on the CC request, it could just be that you have a lot of credit available to you right now and they don't think you need any more. If you've got any cards that are zero but which you haven't cancelled yet these will also show as money available and could hinder you.

If you do have any old cards, it may be worth phoning the bank to see if they can do a balance transfer offer as they sometimes do this for existing customers. Either 0% for about 6 months or a low interest for life of balance offer - no harm in asking.
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

    Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
    Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

    Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011

    Thanks GUYS!!!!

Had to edit my SOA as realised i'd missed my mobile bill out...so less than initally thought each month .... not ideal...

Little Boots I HEAR YA! I'm new and ADDICTED which SURELY can only be a good thing?!?!

Second no spend day... whoop whoop! :T Yeh ME!!!

Plus ive never felt more social...everyones inviting me round for dinner...and normally when id be like no maybe anther night.... im now thinking FREE DINNER BABY!!!

I'm not naive I know this is going to get REALLY hard and when I get FRUSTRATED  , (i.e from walking by starbucks) i just think about how much my flat mate annoys me and thats my motivation (Id like to clear up that hes actually a good guy...just REALLY messy...i call him the Tazmanian devil...I GUT the place and he can destroy it in a matter of minutes...hes like having my own child...but one that won't buy me slippers when im older and gives me half the rent)

My vision a lovely wee flat with a nice couch etc....MY couch... I also think that even when im doing well I need to think ahead of what happened if I got made redundant? Or unexpected partys/birthdays you forget etc. I don't have a partners income coming in and my mum and dad couldnt help... im alone in this tragic debt riddled world...

Lemontree and George, I think all my CC's offer balance transfers so im gong to use them, not best deals as im a current customer but its partly the interest thats crippling me just now!!! The only one that doesnt is my BOS so im going to part transfer that, I might actually phone them and say im going to do a balance transfer and is there anything they can offer me to save the admin...part true...part bluff... the worst they say is no and im in exact same situation so no loss....

No update really.... eagerly awaiting pay day... no spend day yesterday although today i need to buy my travel pass today... 20 bucks... :(

Last two days has been a mix of good and bad:

    GOOD:

Feeling quite good as my only mates who understands my situation (she is also has about 10k of debt aswell, shes going to get a cash advance on her mortgage to clear it) phoned me she was in starbucks and she was meeting some mates for dinner...she CAVED!

I felt the POWER... well thats a lie I felt the green eyed moster taking over me... :D

    BAD:

Another mate has asked me to view a flat with her for a second opinion tonight...if anyone else other than me is reading this - my whole LBM (im catching onto the lingo) came about because I wanted to try and get a flat...

The green eyed monster has returned... but ahhh well I have only myself to blame so I will go view flat and use it as further inspiration... still doesnt help me from feeling a bit blue... :(
