This does indeed work.
As previously stated,i recommend copper tubing.
The pic shows a Hosta. Slugs just love these.

You can see when the plant was smaller a few months ago,they have nibbled some of the leaves. I put the 22mm copper square around the base and the plant has thrived and flowered since and no slugs have been near it.
In this case i used 22mm copper tube and 4x 22mm copper elbows just slotted together.
I have used similar on other vulnerable plants in the garden with the same protective results.0 -
I haven't seen my hostas flower in two years! I don't know how the previous owners of my house kept the slugs off, but since that summer, they get chewed down to the stump in no time at allMy TV is broken!

This one would have been the same if i hadnt acted as the slugs were licking their lips and making a bee line for it. Now they are kept in check by my Star Trek like invisible forcefield and they just cant figure out whats gone wrong !0
