Item not received after 8 days

I bought an item on the 7th of july which is 8 days ago, am ir ight in thinking theres a set limit in which the item has to be posted or have a dreamt it. I payed for the item as soon as i won the item which was the 7th. I asked the seller if it had been dispatched yet and i was told i would receive an autoamtic email when its dispatched. Anyone advise please

They have 7 days to send. Go to paypal and start an INR dispute.

i'm currently waiting for something i bought on 6th july. they stated they dispatch within 3 days, hmm. i emailed yesterday morning and no reply so far...

I am not certain but I think I read on here a while back paypal had a funny do every now and again and would send payment as an echeque if it was funded by your bank or credit card even if they were in date.
Have you asked the seller if payment has been received?
It could also be on hold but that shouldn't stop them sending it.

If i open a dispute do i need to inform them,

this is a copy of the message i sent via ebay

" hi, can you tell me if the item been sent, i payed last week or i think i did, "

i was 99% sure id payed for it but wasnt sure so i thought i hadnt received it yet as i hadnt payed for it and were awaiting payment

the seller is an ebay shop if it makes any difference

afaik theres a 14day delivery limit for royal mail missing parcels you can start an ebay dispute about 10 days after the auction ended.

A) How many will cancel the claim if they then receive it?

How many will reimburse the seller if the item turns up after they (buyer) has won the paypal claim?


It's all very well banding around with wanton abandonment 'open a dispute after 7 days if you haven't got your item', but does anyone think of the repercussions that this just opens door to a world of 'free' shopping, and for some I bet theycannot believe their luck!!?

I believe that ebayers are basically honest and that there are just a very miniscule few that are dishonest. I therefore have no problems at all with buyers doing early chargebacks as I believe they will be cancelled when items arrive.

However, as a rule of thumb I would normally give longer than the 7 days paypal ask buyers to wait and would probably still only be sending a polite email on about day 9 or 10. If that got no response I would send the same polite email through paypal on the basic dialogue dispute system and only if that got no response would I raise to a chargeback. Unless I am fidgety about a seller I would rarely start the chargeback until day 14 and even then I would hold off if seller had been in communication with me. What does push me towards a dispute is where seller neither emails to say an item has been sent and / or they don't answer polite emails.

A) I think all buyers would cancel the dispute whn item arrives.
Again I think virtually all buyers would refund if item turns up, but then I would question anyway why sellers needs weeks to send an item?

Each auction now shows an estimate delivery time which is based on an average taken for the postal method and dispatch times given by seller. If sellers don't choose their own dispatch times the system warns them that it defaults to 2 working days. Therefore most auctions show an estimated delivery time of less than a week and I think this is why some peoples stars slip as they suddenly hit problems with dispatch or RM delays and don't meet those targets.

If a seller choses to delay shipping, and they can if they opt not to use any paypal seller protection they must still ship within 30 days but that has to be outlined clearly on the auction and with the delivery times now so prominent I think buyers may well shop elsewhere. However if a seller wants paypal protection, and for tracked goods that would seem to be a necessity, then they must ship within 7 days of payment.
