Hi and welcome Lucy:wave:How do decide which is best?
http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=218.0What are they likely to want to do to start with?
CD21 test should be taken at 7DPO.
After the blood test, there might be an internal scan (dildo cam), so wear a skirt for that (I'd avoid tights).
They may prescribe clomid for few cycles, metformin if you have PCOS.
More invasive tests are to check tubes and insides (lap & dye, HSG, hycosy).
They may offer IUI or IVF.
Whichever way they choose, hopefully you'll end up with a cute cuddly baby at the end.
Keep your eye on the final prize, and good luck:)0 -
welcome lucy lu, you are the same ages as me and my hubby, i don't know anything about the fertility clinics you mentioned but you should be able to find out the success rates for treatments at each of them, we have to go private so chose a different one to the one we would have been refered to for nhs treatment, but the success rates were very similar for both so we went for the slightly nearer one as it is still a two hour round trip, which is quite a lot when you only need a scan or a blood test! good luck whatever you choose, hopefully someone on here will know a bit about those clinics, and be able to offer you more advice0

Hi and welcome Lucy:wave:
Words of mouth? There's a UK forum which is divided into regions, so perhaps you could take a peek there?
Do you have a list of cycles? Temp charts? I'd take that.

Terminology is driving me crazy but I will get there... GP told me that the 21 day test has to be day 21 of my cycle - but being as that's a Sunday, she said day 22 was okay. Will that be okay? I have an old list of cycles but we stopped charting things about 5/6 months because it became quite obsessive and they advised to try and take the stress out of it. Hope that wont be a problem. I will join the forum you suggested - thank you!0 -

Thanks Runnerduck. We're finding it hard, I'm sure everyone does...So worried we've left it too late and we're really fed up with people (family esp grandparents) assuming that we decided not to have children. They don't consider there may be other problems and don't mince words!

My parents seems to think I've given up as well:o Better than them pestering about grand kids every time I meet though/0 -
It is to check if you ov'd or not. It you know you haven't ov'd then it'll be kind of pointless. Will you be around 7DPO then?
It's fine. Are your cycles regular?
35 is not late, remember some get pg naturally well into their 50s:cool:

Yes, cycles are regular and will be around 7 days after, give or take a day. I was just worried because at first doc was adamant it had to be day 21 otherwise could not be reliably interpreted... :undecided
The parents don't say much. It's the grandparents, we get quite cutting comments from sometimes. Maybe it's their age... I don't know.0 -
Lucy - welcome. In the nicest possible way, I hope you won't stay long.
Sometimes seeing a specialist is all it takes...white coat syndrome, can work wonders..!
14 months is still not an eternity - hopefully, male factor aside, you've just been unlucky. Hope you get some answers soon anyway.

Runnerduck - wow! Puts a different complexion on Christmas...this one will be especially meaningful for you. Wish you all the luck in the world.0 -
Hi lucy - welcome
The HFEA website is where you can look up the results for the various clinics, though I agree that word of mouth is important too.
Here is one of the places you can look up some of the acronyms, but people here will be happy to expand as well.
Good luck with everything.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

Hi Lucy Lu, welcome to the thread. I hope you graduate quickly! Re. the 21 day test, I'm having mine redone this week. My cycles have been a bit irregular so I'm having the test taken at what we think is cd20, cd22 & cd29 (cd=cycle day) - I was concerned that none of them were on cd 21 but the nurse said that it didn't matter too much as long as they knew which day I was on. So...Cd22 is fine, just remind them what day you're on. Good luck0
