LOL! Okay you guys... you asked for it.
The doctors appointment I had yesterday was all about getting my blood tests results back. The good news was that everything was average. I mean everything. From thyroid function to liver function to hormone levels to rheumatoid factor to blood glucose. I was resoundingly average.
The bad news was they could find no reason for why I appear to be suffering from pregnancy symptoms as a form of PMS. I had morning sickness !!!!!!. Apparently, I just have to live with that. I have total exhaustion for 3 weeks out of every 4 and horrible migraines regularly. That is "just one of those things". The doctor doesn't have to live with the pain and agony of the blinking things.:mad::mad::mad:
So what can I do to stop this? I need to lose weight, said the doctor. Really? I didn't realise that. Ummm, lets see, I have been on a diet for 31 years (since I was 6) and you can see by the fact that I am 19 stone now (but apparently incredibly healthy from the effing blood tests!!!!) that diets haven't exactly worked out for me. Would you like to read my medical records, dickwad and see that I have been bulimic in the past. Yes, bulimic, and I STILL didn't lose any weight!!!! I can't shift weight for all the tea in China. I exercise at least 30 minutes each and every day, I do not have a diet of takeaways and cakes and sugary drinks, I eat organically, cook from scratch and all that jazz. I really resent the thinly veiled implication that I am lying through my teeth about what I eat and how much I exercise just because I don't lose weight like the textbooks tell the doctors.:mad::mad:
Yesterday, I was at a loss as to what to do next. I have done every diet under the sun and though they work for a while, even while I am following them I end up putting the weight back on again. But, I had a think about it last night. I am going to eat properly, exercise as much as I can and record what happens to my weight each and every day. I have 1,161 days until I am 40. I am going to try everything within my power to change my lifestyle still further to lose the weight i need to so that when I go to the doctor they see me, a human being, and not "a fat woman".
And I am also going to see some kind of holistic therapist, because quite frankly, conventional medicine totally sucks.
There... I feel better now. Sorry if your eyes are bleeding after all that!! :rotfl:"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Sounds like you are having a rough time crickett. Good news all your bloods are fine. Drs don't know anything sometimes, its a good idea for you to keep a food/exercise/weight diary so you can then show the Dr what you have been doing and still not losing weight, hopefully they will then investigate further. Sometimes conventional medicine is more help and good luck with that.
We all need a rant every now and again.
My bloods came back at 11.5 which apparently is average if not a bit below, so they are going to put me on the same drugs as last time and just let me go 12 days instead of 10 days for my egg collection. Should all start when AF arrives in September, just wishing the next 2 months away as quick as possible. I am on the verge of quitting my job as I hate it and its stressing me out which is not good when I start treatment, I am holding in there for the moment.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -
crickett1234, glad your blood test was OK, but sorry to hear your doctor is clueless:(
As a fellow PCOSer, I can sympathise re weight issue.
I've never been overweight (BMI 21), but can't get thinner either.
I have slightly higher cholesterol too:o
I've started taking Vitamin B complex to see if it will help.
There's lots of other herbal things to try here:http://www.marilynglenville.com/general/polycystic.htm0 -
Cricket, sympathies.
Can I suggest really strongly that you try some acupuncture? It is amazing for PMS. My sister in law had migraines to fell a horse, they totally knocked her out and it meant at one point she was taking five days off a month to lie in a dark room and moan. She went to acupuncture and it was instantly better. She stopped the acupuncture, and it came back again. So now she's a total convert. WOrth a try?0 -
Thanks for all the sympathy! Although I am glad we have the NHS, some of the doctors are just so blinkered, it drives me mad.
I have made an appointment to see one of my friends Homeopaths. She has an auto immune condition which has been controlled for about 15 years with natural remedies and such like, and if it works for Lupus... who knows, it might work for me. Acupuncture is something I have thought about for a while too. It is going to be interesting anyway!

Hi Ladies
Havn't posted on here for a long time. Been reading but not posting as been a bit down about whole ttc thing. Have not used contraception for around 8-9 years and never fell pregnant. I am on Icsi waiting list and would have been due treatment at start of next year. Have lost 3 stones to get bmi down so could be refered treatment. Hubby had poor quality sperm and stopped smoking and cut down drinking and taken vitamin supplements and when we went last month told us that quality had improved and was now normal but that would still be put forward for icsi. I am 38 so appeared best option. Was thinking about going private due to my age. Anyway my period was a couple of days late and have done a couple of pregnancy tests and are saying BFP. I know it is very early days but I am hopeful as it is first time I have become pregnant in all these years of trying. I am crossing everthing that all goes well for me and that my ttc journey is over. I know that many on here have different problems that they are battling but just wanted to say that miracles can happen when you least expect them and don't give up hope. I hope that we all get the baby that we all so want and deserve.Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0 -

Hiya Crickett, I've thought long and hard about replying to your post,in the end i thought "what the heck" so here goes......
When you are struggling with infertility there comes a time, when you have to ask yourself, how far are you prepared to go and how much you can sacrifice before you ready give up on your dream to have a baby.
There are some aspects of infertility that are impossible to change and how ever hard you try and what ever you do won't make any difference. But we all know there are things that have been medically proven to greatly reduce your chances of conceiving and I realise that you would probably be the first to admit that being 19 st isn't really helping matters.
You sound like one determined lady and think that your resolve to change your lifestyle is admirable.
I've been overweight in the past and used every excuse as to why, until I accepted that the only reason I was fat was in fact because I consumed more calories than I was burning off !! You only have to look at people who previously claimed that whatever they did couldn't loose weight, said they didn't each much etc etc, but hey, guess what ? after having a gastric band fitted which now meant that they now had no option but to consume less calories, they somehow now lost weight.
Have you asked for a referral to a dietitian ? You say that you eat healthily, cooking everything from scratch etc ,but you really do need to watch your portion sizes as well. -I managed to put on 4 stone in pregnancy (but have now lost over 3 stone in 5 months) I signed up to boots diets and found that it really made me think how much I was actually eating - it gives you the option of tracking your daily calorie intake online, plus it gives weights for portion sizes, personally, although my diet wasn't terrible, I eating twice as much as I should be (omg some portion sizes seemed tiny).
You say that you do at least 30 mins of exercise a day - what do you do ? Remember that you really need to get your heart rate "in the fat burning zone" I joined the local gym & it does a GP referral scheme, but to be honest I don't know why some of them bother wasting their time - There was a young girl on the treadmill next to me,she was probably about 20 years old and clinically obese, she did 5 mins of normal slow pace walking, there is no way that she could have made any impact on her health or weight - you need to work up a bit of a sweat, and get your heart rate going for at least 30 mins for it to make a difference.
Have you heard of the the couch to 5k running plan ? it may be worth a try.I'm not suggesting that you suddenly start running, but perhaps you could power walk the bits that you should run in (by power walking.I mean going at the fastest walking pace you can achieve)
You say in your post you have tried every diet under the sun and they did work in the beginning, just remind yourself that they can and do work -don't ever give another Stupid Doctor the opportunity to see you as a "fat woman"again.
It ain't gonna be easy, but you can do this, its your choice......
I sincerly hope that I haven't offended or patronised you,but it
really is a case of "been there and done that"0 -
Hi Crickett. Just thought I'd add, I've been doing Alizonne, which I thoroughly recommend for fast weight loss. I've now got to a BMI of 25.7 - I had been obese for years. It's very expensive, but am doing it so I can have another baby. Echoing Notslass, this is how far I was prepared to go to have another one - rack up a credit card on a very expensive diet when I already have plenty of other debt to deal with... but it's worked. Good luck xx
And BTW - the impending 40 was the motivator for me too!0 -
Congratulations hamish222!:j:j:j
Happy 8 months:)
I went to see my fertility doctor, and after doing the ultrasound, he said the egg is growing well, and I should ovulate on Saturday (CD14)!:j
He was worried about DH's sperm morphology (1% normal morphology ie 99% bad), but can't really do much about it:(. DH is taking vitamin E tabs and herbal thing containing various things including Zinc which the doc prescribed last month, and will continue for the time being.
He said Clomid worked well for me, and I should continue with it for 3 cycles, and after that change strategy.
Haven't had any blood tests yet, next appointment is CD2, and bloods at CD12.
We have busy nights ahead:D
I usually ov at around CD30-40, so this month feels hectic:shocked:
Usually once AF comes, we take it easy until the next month:D0 -
