Updated littleme. What's with the duplicate posting today? Everything I post then says 'you can only post once every 30 seconds', and it looks like it hasn't posted.
I'm getting this. And yesterday a bit too."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Please could I be updated too?
Next step: Starting down regulation on 24.10.13.
Thank you xx
Has anyone else here tried acupuncture? If so, how did you find it? Have been reading about the virtues of it esp. when combined with IVF, before and after ET etc
Friday hugs to everyone x0 -
I have been taking Royal Jelly, my acupuncturist recommended it last cycle and I kept on taking it. Have stopped since I get my BFP as I can't find anything about taking it now. Will ask a midwife when I'm back at work. I went for acupuncture during our last ICSI in Feb, I found it quite stressful travelling across Glasgow in really bad weather after work to get to appointments. They also suggested I went before and after transfer, which really stressed me as the hospital was running late. I didn't go for any acupuncture this time.
Fluff-can I ask if you are given any info about your donor? I'm just wondering how it works with taking family history at appointments? Thanks
Happy friday ladies0 -
I'm an acupunture girl. I go every week, and did it twice a week when I was doing IVF.
It's seems quite targeted, and she did manage to resolve my disappearing period problem earlier this year too. Plus it's kind of like a pep talk (at the start anyway). I like having someone who is so positive about everything. The only minor thing is they may try to talk you out of IVF, but you are far enough down the road with that to probably be ok.
Plus it's really relaxing. My lady does back acupunture, which she says is just for stress management, and leaves me for 20 minutes or so to fall asleep. Then turn over and needles in tummy, feet, legs and head. And a heat lamp sometimes. That is fertility specific treatment apparently.0 -

We know her blood group, her age, that her genetic group is 'Northern European' and that she's been screened for a number of genetic illnesses - can't remember which off the top of my head but one of them's cystic fibrosis. Other than that, nothing. The screening is more for peace of mind I think, rather than for any useful information in the future. Realistically we don't know her medical history and I think Freddie will simply have to state that maternal medical history is unknown if asked.
But as I've mentioned before, I'm not sure it plays that much of a role. In reality your treatment for any health problems you suffer is unlikely to be different whether your history is, or isn't, known. Plus many people with more orthodox origins don't know either - one or both parents die when they're young, their father is absent, they're adopted etc.
ETA. We also know she's got funny toes because Freddie damn well didn't get those freaky things from the OH"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Fluffnutter-your comment about his toes made me spit my tea out and now I have to try and play it cool while people look at me like I'm in idiot!
Wonder_woman...it looks like we could be IVF cycle buddies! :j
I've been going to acupunture since January, and I'm can't say for sure whether it's been any use but I do find it incredibly relaxing, and frequently fall asleep. I also agree with T2D-it's nice to have someone so positive about it, although every month my acupuncturist says who knows what will happen, maybe it's going to be this month I do think 'Bless him, so naive!' and just smile along with him.
I also meant to mention that my consultant on Monday said not to take Royal Jelly as there has been some disagreements on whether it's a bit dodgy to take. He didn't elaborate any more than that and it could well just be one of those things consultants disagree on.
I went to the open evening on Wednesday and found out that the reason the consultant mentioned possibly doing ICSI for us in spite of OH SA being good was that when you have unexplained fertility problems and you've been trying for as long as we have (just passed our 5 year TTC anniversary) that sometimes they assume there is a problem between sperm and egg meeting.
Something else I found weird was how many obviously pregnant women there were at the IVF clinic...I thought for sure I was safe there! Then again, it's got to be a good sign, right?
I've just realised that for the first time in goodness knows how long, I'm actually looking forward to AF coming! Who would have thought that!0 -
That is my worry mrshappy, finding a good acupuncturist close by - how you are meant to manage it before and after ET is beyond me unless your clinic offer it - will have to do some research. T2D that sounds lovely although needles in the head !! The relaxation is definitely appealing. I've also read similar about cupping (snigger snigger) although not found anyone that has tried that.0

I've just emailed an acupuncture place for some info. I like the idea of it, but I certainly couldn't manage to fit it around appts. I can barely manage to fit the appts themselves in around work (why isn't there a hospital in this town, would make life so much easier!)
Was thinking I might try it before we kick off again though, just for relaxation mainly. Or I might just have a massage lol.
I know this is a v stupid question (even for me) but what do you wear for acupuncture??0 -
Actually - my lady does a few minutes of cupping too on my back, before I turn over. I'll admit I find that a bit odd - and i've told her to not let it leave marks! I think the principle of cupping is the same as acupuncture - it's stimulating certain points in a slightly different way. So if you believe in one...
Although part of me worries overall about a treatment you have the 'believe' in.0 -
Just been for another scan and lining is back to just over 7 mm and ond little follie 10 mm. Back to where we were 10 days ago so praying we can get to ov this time and not lose the lining again.0
