I have just had a conversation with someone from the FOS... They were asking for the terms and conditions of the PPI in that of the loan... I can't recall ever receiving this information, and I haven't got a copy of it in the file I kept when taking out the loan... She said they will contact the bank, but knowing how long the bank could take, is there anyway I could speed things up?
FOS will speed the bank up for you:D. I take it they have requested the file then from the bank and this is missing? They should have sent this to you when you took the loan so they are most probably in trouble for that alone. We can only but hope...;)
  • Hi, I'm not sure what the FOS has requested from the bank... FOS asked me for a copy of the terms and conditions or the insurance policy I took out, I kept a file on the loan agreement I had, but no terms and conditions were ever received for the PPI policy. I told FOS this, and they are now going to request the information from the bank... I hope they are in trouble over this and that they get fined... That will teach them!

While investigating, the FOS tends to ask the bank to send any information from their end to help them to consider your complaint, this is normally procedure.
Don't worry thought - I'm sure all will be okay.;)

  • I am much happier now they are asking questions... I can see something happening now... its so frustrating waiting to hear something.

With a bit of luck, it will be in time for my birthday in 3 weeks!!!

Hi all, I thought I'd share this classic letter with you. It's from BOS.

    Dear Mr Haynes

Thank you for your recent complaint via the Financial Ombudsman.

I am sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the insurance applied to your loan.

We are keen to deal with your concerns as quickly as possible, however our investigation may take some time. The Financial Services Authority allows us up to eight weeks to investigate complaints and it is our intention to deal with your concerns within this timescale and provide updates when appropriate.

Please find enclosed a copy of our leaflet, which tells you how we will handle your complaint.

    Yours sincerely

If BOS idea of recent is 18 months!!!! Then they have the cheek to send me a leaflet... and tell me they have 8 weeks to "Investigate".

I have spoken to FOS about the letter today, they tell me they have requested information, and they are giving them a week. So I am pleased about that.

So 18 months ago you complained to BOS and then took it to the FOS and they have suddenly sent this out of the blue. I take it that they are now going to actually look into the complaint and its perhaps been reopened like the new FSA proposals are asking firms to do perhaps. I think you should not be long before they issue a cheque then maybe and wishful thinking for you.
