    Morning everyone,

Got home last night and OH told me he is going to Malaysia today with work!! Reckons it will be for 2 weeks but that always changes. I've got 7 and a bit weeks left til due date and got a little panicky. Gonna be stuck on my own in Blackpool again as my family and friends live 40 mins away. Arrggh I hate him going away. I try and think of the extra money it brings in but it's hard not having him here especially this close to baby coming!!

Hope everyones ok today. Misses coming online yesterday so will have to catch up with 10 or so pages later!! xx

Congrats to all you've just had their babies and good luck for those going in today xx

Hypno prob too late now but please try and relax i know it is easier said than done. It will all come natural and you will just know what to do honest hun you will be a great mum. Why won't they let your hubby in until 10 that's a bit odd. So what is he doing? waiting outside or are you going on your own first and he will join you later? How awful hun. Bless you no wonder your a bit worried.

At my hosp apt yesterday they said that knowing your having your baby on a certain day causes more people to be worried and nervous than those that do not know. I know i will be still nervous even tho i have done it before and an elective is better then and emergency.

Is anyone going to swaddle? i didn't do it with ds but my niece was very bad with colic and i am thinking i should learn just incase. I have seen some lovely swaddling blankets that are shapped but they are quite expensive but i guess it can be done with a normal blanket.

    Morning all.

    Hope all are well.

Hypno, don't worry, OH will be there before you know it and everything will be fine, and tonight you will be holding your little one.

Carla - well done, can't wait to see piccys when you are up to it.

Well, I'm sat here waiting for the Doc to ring me back to decide if he wants to see me today of if he can just deal with me over the phone. Need prescriptions though so will prob have to go in at some point. Praying for a magic cure to wake me up and make me feel normal again. I know I'm supposed to be tired but this is madness.

Europa, try not to worry about OH being away, as hard as that is. Family being 40 mins away isn't too far in the grand scheme of things and you do still have 7 weeks left so it would be very unlucky if you needed them at this stage. We will keep you company, and you can tell us all about the lovely things you are going to buy baby with all OH's extra money. It might even give the rest of us some ideas.

    Hi Elastigirl

I'm planning on trying to swaddle. There are lots of special blankets about, cheapest I've seen is mothercare at about £14 but not checked ebay yet.

I know people who have just used muslins and flat pram and cot sheets and that seems to have worked pretty well. There is a lovely swaddle blanket in Boots but it is £20 which, for just a few weeks, seems a bit excessive. Obviously, if it doesn't work too well with the sheets I might have to try that but I'm going for the cheap option first.

According to my mum, years ago it used to be quite a popular present to buy for a new baby. Whether that is still the case remains to be seen. You don't really get much for your money so people might shy away from them now.

Hey ladies just popping on quickly to say that I won't be on for a little while & not to worry. My mom passed away yesterday, so will be going over to the USA shortly for a little while. I'm okay - don't worry, it wasn't unexpected.

Will need to reschedule my anomaly scan though...doing it at around 23-24 wks shouldn't be a problem, right? There's not a 'window' like with the nuchal?

  • Congratulations Carla!!!!!!!

Hypno- there would be something wrong with you if you didn't feel exactly as you are at the moment. Just think that later today you will be cuddling your little one and all these fears will be forgotten about. Sending you big hugs and can't wait to hear how it went x x x

Hypno - try not to worry. I think everyone has those thoughts, no matter what type of birth they are having - I know I had them when I was sat at home waiting, knowing my waters had broken but nothing was happening. I even had them during the labour :o I guess I'm trying to say it'll all be fine and it's normal to panic a little ;) You'll soon be with your little one and everything will be forgotten!

Hope everything goes well for you today!

Labour vibes Suzy and those that need them!!

ETA: Aless - Big hugs - I know you said it wasn't unexpected but please take care and look after yourself. Sorry I can't help with the scan question - I'm sure someone will be along very shortly. Hugs again!

Aless, sorry to hear about your mum. Hope you're ok. Don't know about the scan, but I'm sure if you give them a ring they will be able to tell you when you need to be seen.

Thanks for letting us know you won't be here for a while, you know we are a bunch of worriers. xxx

NMS, I agree you should stay on the list until Liam is a month old, think I said the same yesterday (or the day before). How is the gorgeous little man doing? xxx

Hypno, you'll be a great mum. The fact that you are worrying about it proves it. If you didn't care then that would be a sign that you might not be up to the job, but everything I've seen of you up until now has given the impression you'll be fab. xxxx

Doc rang, is writing me prescriptions but won't commit to whether I should go back to work next week until monday. That doesn't really help me at the mo, and won't help my boss plan the week either. Have to go again on Monday to see how I feel. With any luck the prescriptions will perk me up a little bit and things can go back to normal.

One thing he did say was to prop up the mattress for heartburn. That just propping yourself up with pillows wont work but if the mattress is up by 15-20cm that can make a big difference. Off to roll up some towels to give it a try tonight.

    xxxxx to all
