Sorry Glam - someone said they love leaving early, especially on a Friday, and I panicked.
Argghhhh. I broke the thread and something just happened that has filled me with rage. I thought the cat puking on my labour bag would be the worst thing to happen after the bloody builders woke me this morning. Then I thought it would be the bank being buttweasels. And now it's the place we'd organised to store all the stuff that's in the nursery and preventing it from being a nursery. The woman who was subletting it has decided not to bother keeping it on, which means we're back to square one with nowhere to store the stuff and a child coming in a matter of days.
It's not even worth ranting about. If anyone needs me I'll be under my bed.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

For whoever asked how much mess is actually involved in the birth process, I was told that normal blood loss is around 200 - 350ml and that heavy loss is anything more than 500ml, but that actual volume will look much greater because it will be mixed with amniotic fluid and mucus. So bank on pouring between 1-2.5 pints of blood and water over your shower curtain or nappy pads if you're going for a home birth, I reckon
On a completely different subject, does anyone have, or have they seen, childproof locks which you could use on a washing machine and tumble dryer (My TD is the same shape and style as my washing machine)? My SN DD has developed the charming habit of opening the empty machines and peeing and/or pooing in them, and whilst it's relatively easy though not pleasant to clean the washing machine, it's a nightmare to do the Tumble Dryer and the smell lingers in use. Most of the multi-purpose appliance locks I've been able to find are not heat resistant or are designed to work on appliances whose doors shut on a right angle, rather than a porthole arrangement IFYSWIM. I am having a bit of a nightmare with her atm to be honest, probably due to the fact that I am less mobile and up for things as the pregnancy gets into its later stages, and as well as defiling the means of washing, she keeps finding where I've hidden the moses basket, bedding and new babies clothes, and pooing on it as well, so I am finding it really hard to keep on top of the washing.0 -

Hello ladies and bumps, WOW you lot have been chatty!! Ive had loads to try and catch up on and cant remember any details now.
Tia - hope you get home soon and good to hear your getting a date to meet your lil' lady.
NMS - Liam is gorgeous. I love his face in the first piccie, soo cute.
SS - lots of labour vibes, I think like aless says the bank/cat/storage issues are all bad dress rehearsals for a good show!
Glam - thanks for all your info and links re what to take and when. My 'to buy' shopping list is getting bigger and stranger by the day!
Xmas - glad to hear your getting your home birth and that the consultants now your best friend.
I know there were tonnes of other things but my minds gone blank so a sweeping easy labour/sticky bean/'uneventful' pregnancy vibes for everyone else!!
Ive spent the afternoon at the Day assesment unit, everythings ok but the belly monkey has been very quiet for the last 48 hours to the point of no movement for the last 24 hours so rather than worrying myself stupid OH made me ring up. They were lovely and asked me to go straight in, when I got there I was seen within 5 minutes and the midwife was lovely. It took a few mins to find the heartbeat but they did pick it up and then put the movement monitor on too and she is wriggling even though Im not feeling it at all.
It was nice to have my mind put at rest and they said they'd rather women went in 10 times for false alarms than put it off and go once and its not so good news. It made me feel a lot better about ringing the midwife if I am worrying as I tend to think Im bothering them so havent rang when little things have niggled me before.
Hope everyone else is well, I might have to raid the chocolate cupboard now as a treat.Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0 -
boogellyboo - glad to hear everything is ok, looks like she's trying to keep you on your toes! Must be a relief to know she's fine :j0

Definately a relief! I nearly cried when they found the heartbeat and it was galloping along. Think she must be preparing me for all the heartstopping moments I'll no doubt encounter being a mummy!Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

The top one definitely not, because its designed for doors that fit flush to the side of the appliance and is right angle shaped (we've used that kind of lock before on our fridge). I'm not sure whether the bottom one would either because both the washing machine and the tumble dryer will both get quite hot in operation, even on the outside, and I know these sorts of locks don't work on ovens for that reason (the heat weakens the adhesive). The failsafe I suppose is to keep the kitchen door locked all the time and never leave her unsupervised in there, but its tough on my non SN 9 year old not to be allowed to go and get a drink or snack for himself, and he never remembers to lock the door after he's been in there  so having a second line of defence would make life a bit simpler.0 -
