Hello ladies and bumps,
Not posted for ages, i have been getting married and honeymooning, (well we had honeymoon before wedding, but i've never been one for following strict order for things!!)
Not asking for medical advice you understand, does anyone know anything about low lying placentas?
I have been put under consultant care, (at my 20wk scan)due to this and will be rescanned at 36 weeks. I have been told that the majority will move up and cause no problems, but by 36 weeks, IF i am not one of the majority and this gets worse, surely that is too late and the placenta could deteriorate long before then.
I am confused!!0 -
Hi All,
Can I join in with you. I am 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant, due on 26th December (glad I'm not the only one, I see there is someone else on the list due on boxing day!). My first was due on 25th Dec, but didn't actually arrive till 7th Jan, so I'm hoping this one won't be in any hurry either!
I envy people who get time off for antenatal appointments, I'm self-employed now, as a childminder, so just end up taking the children with me half the time! Def won't be able to do aqua natal. Taking a 6 yr old I look after to my 21 weeks can! Never mind, it's a great job in lots of other respects and means that I get to stay at home with my little boy (who's 18 months now).
Looking forward to getting to know u all.

faye - I had a low lying placenta when pregnant with DS2, but it moved up by 34-36 wks (had a scan at that point to check). My understanding is that if it is simply "low lying" as opposed to actual placenta previa (covering or partially covering the cervix) then the concern is more that you may need a c-section to avoid excessive blood loss and problems during delivery, not any concerns really that the placenta would deteriorate. If it's actually blocking the opening to the uterus, that's a little different, with some additional possible complications. That's what I was told.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Me too. I had bleeding mid pregnancy with no 2 due to low lying placenta but scan at 34 weeks showed it had moved. Most of them do apparently, as they are attached to the uterine wall and get pulled up out of the way as the uterus grows. My best friend also had one and worried all though her pregnancy, was admitted a few times for observation after she bled, but hers moved to, though she chose to go for a c section anyway because she'd had a previous one and didn't want a vbac.0 -
Good luck Fairydawn! Don't you keep us waiting like some
:D
lil miss, welcome to team pink!!!
Hypno, hope your ok! No more bleeds for you!
Day care was fine, although the midwife dropped one of my bloods in the sharps bin that was too full for her to fish out. So had to be jabbed twice. Bloods however were fine. CTG was fine, a few decelerations that coincide with contractions (proper ones not braxton hicks although they are 'mild - not exceeding 40%'). Been getting them since last night, all the way through the night, kept waking me up! And I have done nothing but pee! My cankles and face have went down though! :rotfl:BP fine. And they won't induce me just cos I'm fed up :rotfl: ( but I can ask again next week if I am still getting contractions ). Doctor (not my consultant but a lovely one I saw with DS2 a few times) and midwives reckon I will go on my own over the next 2 weeks if they keep up, here's hoping but I won't my bleedin breath.
I also got told off for not coming up when she is quiet. If she is quiet enough for me to notice, even if she does move when I poke her I have to call them. Though she has been raving all day.
Kitchen cleaned, just about to go see if I have stuff to bake a cake for the kids to decorate and make a fruit loaf for DH.0 -
Well no cake. Bag of out of date flour had weevils (flour mites) so everything has been binned. Pants! Still make fruit loaf (bread flour is in a different cupboard).0

Hi all, hope everything is going well for everyone.
Ihad my early preg scan 4 weeks ago and it said i was 6w3d and i had a scan 2 weeks before that that said i was 6w4d, so anywhoo i had my first midwife visit on monday and she scaned me again and said i was 14w exactly on monday lol.
Im so confused with all these dates and stuff now instead of only being 10 weeks im 14 and am now due on jan 15th.
Still seems forever away tho.:ABaby Erin Niamh born 8th Feb 2010:A
She came 4 days early weighing 5lbs 14oz and is absolutely gorgeous.

Aww Tia, I hate it when that happens with the flour!
It's so quiet on here this afternoon. I am lazily browsing on the laptop while hubby finishes off the nursery, although I have agreed to help with the border in a bit!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0
