The BH/contractions are painful but not so much so that I can;t talk through them, and have been about ten mins apart until the last one at 7pm.
Sounds like not quite yet to be honest, though that's not to say that you won't start later on tonight. Most of us seem to have a few practise runs before it actually happens for real. If you don't get your hopes up, then you won't be disappointed, though I'd certainly think about asking your OH to cancel his London trip for tomorrow as you might be imminent.
With my second, I had a couple of days where I thought: am I or aren't I, but the contractions were never sufficiently painful or regular to phone the labour ward. On the day it started for real, I did have similar niggles throughout the day, but when it started for real that night, there was no mistaking that this was the real thing, and there was plenty of time (ie hours) to call the midwife and get to hospital after that point before baby arrived.0 -
skintchick wrote: »Congratulations Chalky! Would you like to share your birth story in our special thread?
Would be very quick story, Sat at the back out of the way, not looking anywhere where I didn't want to!!!!!!!!!!!**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Skinty - hopefully it's the start of things, fingers crossed!
Congrats chalky - how are Mum & Baby?
Usually MW appointment earlier - everything fine with BP, wee etc...measure ok for dates but bubs isn't quiet engage yet. Due back the day before my due date! I'm still hoping bubs is waiting for me to slow down, stop working and relax before he takes that as a cue to get things moving
Ladies who haven't leaked, do you get a small amount of clear/white discharge if you squeeze your nipples? - especially in the bath?0 -

It's the not knowing that's hardest. I had been quite happy with the thought the baby would probably not come until next week at the earliest, being a first baby and all that, and now this!
I know no-one can really tell me if it's labour without a VE, but I can;t exactly get one of those from OH so I have no way of knowing what is going on in there.
I'm also concerned because my doula is also going to London tomorrow with a postnatal client and wants me to try and tell her what's going on in case she needs to cancel it but I don;t know how I'd find out without going to hospital which I don;t want to do, and it's hardly necessary anyway.
So tomorrow is the least convenient time, which means it will probably start tonight!!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Let me know when you find somewhere that does bargain cotbed sheets!
The cellular blankets - were they in the B&M near Sainsbury's?
Yes Glam it was that B&M. Only small blankets, but great for pram or moses basket.
They have loads of other baby bits, toiletries and bowls and things, for when we get to the weaning stage.0 -
While we're on the subject of nipples Im hoping you ladies might be able to advise me. One of my nipples is inverted, Im hoping to breastfeed and dont know if this is going to be a problem or if theres anything I can do to make it 'pop out' Ive not googled yet, just wondered if anyone else had any experience of this?Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

Pinkpig, she is gorgeous! Exactly what I envision my lil lady to look like.
Pookie, hope you feel better soon!!
jha, baby belly!!
I had a baked tattie with bacon, cheese and mushrooms (you cook off the bacon and mushrooms, scoop out the potato from the jackets, mix it up, add some cheese and spoon it back in and oven for 10mins or so) yummmmm!!!!!!
Girls, I haven't had any breast ops and never leaked in any pregnancy but still managed to BF/express for DS1 and DS2 and had an excellent supply too, so don't worry about it!
Skinty, have you sheets for the moses basket/cot? Just fold them in half to fit the pram, you don't really need several differnt sizes. It does need a sheet if it has a matress, only to catch any 'fluids' from bubs.
You may be in practice labour. Hope it picks up, but get some rest while you can thats the whole point (so they say).
Awww congrats Bertie! Did everything go ok? I wouldn't let Dh down the business end with DS1 anyway, and kept throwing his hand away when he was trying to be reassuring. Dads are only there for when we want water in my experience! :rotfl:0 -
Tia yes i have sheets for the cot so I'll use those then.
Oh is back now with the shopping but they couldn;t use the vouchers I sent him with cos they'd rung it up then interrupted it while he raced home to get the credit card, which is a bit of a pain.
He has bought things he can cook - so it's meat and two veg for me! He doesn;t really do stuff where he chops but at least I'll be eating healthy meals. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Xmas - I've been Googling (as you do) and I think it is what they call the latent stage of labour or pre-labour, and it seems to say proper labour usually starts within 24 hours. Not sure how true that is though.
Just to warn you Skinty, I had this stage for 6 days before I was induced due to lack of sleep and not being able to cope with it anymore, sorry!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
