This is from the T&Cs:
Read my post again i clearly said BT;s line rental contracts do not auto-renew.:D
Your talking about a auto-renew contract for call bundles/plan,as i said you dont have to take a auto-renew call plan contract you can choose to have a standard noncontracted call bundle you can leave at any time. If you do that your have to pay a monthly fee.
Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan – standard plan
The Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan is available to eligible residential customers with no minimum period. Please note, a minimum period of 12 months applies to line rental for new customers and those switching their phone line from another provider, signing up to this calling plan.
The price is £2.95 per month plus line rental, which has a monthly cost of £11.25 if you pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and elect for paper-free billing.
Otherwise, add £1.50 per month for payment processing fee levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a BT Group company, plus £1.25p without paper-free billing discount.0 -
Hi MORPH3US,
The 18 month free connection offer, is a traditional 18 month contract. This means that when you started your service with BT under the 18 month free connection offer, that you are tied into an 18 month contract. This is not a renewable offer meaning that you will not be tied into a new 18 month term once the original has expired. If after the first 18 month you decide that you would no longer like service with BT, you are free to cancel as long as you provide 14 days notice.

I'm talking about call plans. You said people can leave a call plan at any time, but that's not always true. For example, my call plan - "The Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan - at no extra cost". Is a 12 month auto renewing contract. You're talking about "Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan" which is different.0 -

Try reading what i really said and not your own version.;)
What i actually said was " you can choose to have a call bundle you can leave at any time." and their is no doubt that you can as i have already outlined.;)0 -
Bt offer lots of promotions so when you place an order and the advisor tells you what you are signing up for.
that is what you are agreeing to.If you dont want it then disagree at point of sale not after when the contract dosnt suit you.0 -

You sure can - we specifically cancelled the auto-renewal contact when it came up for renewal and chose to pay £2.95/mth for evenings/weekend calls so as not to be tied into BT any more (I genuinely believe auto-renewal contracts should be outlawed). We knew we were migrating to another provider shortly so this, to us, made sense.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
These rolling contracts are very confusing. My contract ran out in April and couldn't be renewed until July. I rang BT and my latest online bill has just been received showing I am £0.08 in credit! I have been given monthly credit for July, August and September for unlimited evenings and weekends. I have absolutely no idea how much next month's bill will be for or how it will be calculated.
All I want from BT (or any organisation I enter into contract with) is a contract that can be easily understood, and is not open to different interpretation. Just look at the confusion on this forum. I was given different stories by at least 3 BT employees and personally I have lost faith with them.
It's about time the Regulator started doing his job and clamped down on the "small print" that allows these dinosaur companies to mislead, misinform and hence charge huge fees when someone wants to take their business elsewhere!0 -
And you were responding to me. I was writing about auto-renew contracts. Plainly, some components of a BT service can come with auto-renew. So your replies come across as being a bit misleading.utilitybroker wrote: »Read my post again i clearly said BT;s line rental contracts do not auto-renew.:DHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I think the problem arises if the sales person is less than frank about the contract being auto-renew. I don't know how frequently this happens, but it is the possibility of being bound into something like this by a misleading salesman which now makes me avoid BT.Bt offer lots of promotions so when you place an order and the advisor tells you what you are signing up for.

Except they DIDN'T tell me what i was signing up for. Only said that they may as well put me on option 2 as it was at no extra cost than option 1.
Alright, you could argue that the terms and conditions are on the website, etc. etc. However, this business of auto renewal is not a small print matter - it is fundamental to your freedom to change providers and as such, IMHO, should be made EXPLICITLY clear at the time of agreement. Better still outlawed altogether as one previous contributer suggested.0
