Sistercas - DSS#1 (18) is on his way to Paris too - but he is cycling! (not across the actual water obviously!!!!!). He & a couple of schoolfriends are doing a sponsored cycle-ride there & back in aid of MIND. DH & I are very proud of him!
(but would probably be more so if he hadn't 'had to' buy a load of designer cycle-gear to do the trip, even though we sourced & suggested lots of unbranded alternatives for him! Just can't seem to get that one into MS ways at all *sigh* guess that is teenagers for you!).The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
..."Mind yer a*se on the step!"

Mrs Moneypenny - I've had a lot more time since the children left home; even more now that we're in France. I still end up every day thinking I haven't achieved very much, though! I take my hat off to you because I found two children a bit of a handful, and you have five, don't you?
DH's accounts are driving me mad already. Why does he have to staple about fifty receipts together? Why doesn't he record details on cheque counterfoils? Why, why, why? He's in for a serious talking-to when he gets home!
Halight - you obviously need the sleep. Well done on the twin's tooth!
Pippa - enjoy the film.
Good luck with the scan, FairyElephant.
Grandmasam - I have a really funny picture in my mind of a confused mynah bird! What a shame you couldn't go to the wedding.

Morning everyone. Didn't get chance to come on yesterday as I was mega busy & DS1 & DD were hogging the computer somewhat  I'll read yesterdays thread soon & catch up.
I'm just back from shopping, have put it all away I'll make tonights meal - chicken sweet & sour using up lots of peppers - after lunch.
Kathy When I was 14 we arrived in a village in the Champagne region called Cherbonniere (sp?) on Bastille Day. We were the first English family to rent a gite there and nobody spoke English. We were wondering around the village square looking lost when a villager beckoned us to follow him. We went up to the village field and took part in a fabulous meal & fireworks display. We became friends with the farmer & his wife and shared many happy hours in their house. He made a drink called Pineau (sp?) which was wine fortified with brandy. It was beautiful & we brought lots back home. We are still in touch with the family now & regularly exchange cards & visit when we can. Fabulous memories.
((hugs)) to anyone who needs one & I'll be back later I'm sure. It's pouring down here so no washing outside :eek:0 -

redruby - glad you got a car sorted, good luck with the holiday hope you get it
Essex-girl - good news on the contract :T

Fairy Elephant - hope all goes well for you today
mrs-moneypenny - shame he is'nt going with you, will it be his first time going away with the church?
Kathy - I remember when OH and I used to do DS2's accounts for him, and he used to bring them over in a plastic carrier all screwed up and all sorts in the bag bottle tops, empty crisp packets even a half eaten sandwich once :rotfl:It used to drive me insane, we dont do them now he does them himself.
Talking of when we met our OH's (yesterday's posts) we were 12 when we first met at school, so I make that 51 years  we got engaged at 18 and married at 21 in 1967 now that is a long time ago
(((hugs))) for all in need and I hope all the poorlys feel better soon x
OH has just got back and is ready for something to eat
Have good day's all

He went last year but that was the week before we went away so he got both holidays, this year it totally clashes but the choir master is retiring so it will be his last residential, I think DS sees it as a show of support for him that he goes. Thing is hes been in the choir a few years now and come on so much in confidence since joining so i dont want to force him not to go but it will feel wrong on holiday doing different fun things with the others and him not being there to enjoy them. so im glad in away his mate is taking him to see HP later today.SPC~12 ot 124

FE just wanted to wish you all the luck in the world tomorrow for your scan:D I really hope it is good news for you and DH...sending you lots of babydust......don`t panic about hearing the heartbeat as it is often 10 to 12 weeks when that happens so please don`t work yourself up about it.
Am rushing around like a nutter today in a blind panic as I seem to be running out of time to get everything sorted before DS breaks up for summer hols on Fri:eek:
I still need to get his daily plans done....hard to do as I do not know how I am going to keep him occupied
I am going to revisit my mealplans I did for the entire school hols as I feel I am going to have to be less OS and rely more on easy options as I just will not have the time when DS is with me.....he takes up 24 hour concentration...I feel really bad that I cant cook from scratch for these 6 weeks...everyone else on here manages it and they have more kids than me:rolleyes::o...currently beating myself up and feeling like I will be letting DS down feeding him food that is not Hm everyday but it is only 6 weeks I guess

The lady from the dog-sitting franchise visited us last night, and we've been accepted as a host family! I'm so excited! :j:j:jCan't wait to have my first canine guest. Obviously I don't know when or how often I'll be called on, ad I certainly won't make a fortune doing it, but it's not for the money really, it's because I love dogs and can offer good holiday accommodation to dogs who would not be happy going into kennels.
Sorry, I'm getting a bit carried away I guess, but as I can't go out to work I've spent the last decade feeling kinda useless. I've said I'll only take quiet-natured dogs who can walk beside a mobility scooter, but feel that this would be an ideal place for older dogs who like a quiet life and a snooze whenever they want.
Phew! *climbs down off ceiling* I hope I can achieve a bit more than I did yesterday - couldn't settle to anything as I was fretting about the Visit.
That said, I have absolutely NO IDEA what to do for dins tonight. Might end up having egg'n'chips at this rate! :rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all!
Been doing house stuff this morn, v os with my stardrops whizzing around the house! Bin collection day, so have chucked out lots of the kids' rubbish, means they don't see it before it gets taken away! Sneaky, but they never seem to miss it lol!
Got ds and dd1 still off with the lurgy! dd1 is feeling a bit perkier and has just made me and her dippy eggs for lunch! Funny cos she's usually quite reluctant to cook for herself even! Must've appreciated the M&S shampoo and conditioner more than I thought - anybody tried the honey and coconut stuff? It smells lovely and best thing is it's only £1 a bottle!
Dinner will be roast chicken, with salad I expect, weather is too sticky for full roast I think, besides dd3 has her play again tonight so won't have time to do lots of veg and roasties.
Play was lovely last night, I had tears rolling down my cheeks - of laughter! dd3 and her friend were doing a strange dance involving ribbons on sticks, and as dd3 exuberantly flicked her stick the ribbon got caught up in the scenery and almost pulled it over! A true blooper moment! Thankfully the girls saw the funny side and weren't upset, I just couldn't stop giggling!
I am so excited at the mo, I have just booked flights to Beziers, Dublin and Milan for me and oh, and they only cost £12 in total! Ryanair have their sale on until midnight tonight, several flights at £1 each way incl taxes. No booking fee if you do it online, will not be taking any luggage only handluggage, and popped into Thomas Cook to get an electron card (preloaded with cash, min £30 and £3 fee), as Ryanair now charge £5 per flight each way per person when using any other card except a visa electron, so my bank card would've cost me a fortune! Just need to find some cheap and cheery accommodation now!
Off to finish bath and shove some books into boxes for the charity shop now, hope everyone has a good day, and will attempt to read and catch up tomorrow xxx
Edit: Marie and Fairyelephant, thanks for your thoughts on privacy, do you know, it's just something that never occured to me until oh got all queeny! Making huge efforts to ensure kids keep out of my room, not totally, but more that they don't wander in to watch my telly or do their homework on my bed cos their own ones aren't made! Have also been hunting down and clearing any couply type bits and bobs from ex that are lurking - odd golfing and running mags and couple of pairs of cufflinks left on shelf, that sort of thing - sometimes you don't notice things, well I don't, but prob doesn't make oh feel v comfortable! On his part, he is gonna mention things that bother him before he explodes again, and just accept that some things we like to do a certain way, not to annoy him, but because it suits me and the kids. Anyway he's coming over later to finish off the kids bathroom for me, apparently he has bought the girls some bubble bath too, bless him, though I suspect it's more to encourage them to stick to their bathroom, but at least he's realised that things like that are more effective than tutting and sighing! xx
Edit again! Fairyelephant, keep meaning to say, many many congratulations to you and your oh, you must both be over the moon xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
