Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 15th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Dinner tonight will be pork chops for OH and I and cauli cheese bake for dd, with mash cabbage and sweetcorn.
Have been looking for a holiday and think I may have found one on Ebay, will try and book it this morning.

Morning Ruby & all to follow,
I see you must be busy writing or just being coy.Lovely sunny day here although it was a fresh morning. I went to the hairdressers this morning. I can throw my paper bag away now.
Saw a few dolphins on the way over which was lovely. Got home around 1.30pm. Made an impossible pie, cleaned the path downstairs & brought the washing in so far.
I had to ring Barclays Bank last night. I discovered our debit cards had expired & were sent to the Scottish address we had. My relations threw them out. So I wanted to cancel those ones & either send the new ones here or we can pick them up in January. I was put on hold four times  while they discussed this query & I had to talk to 2 different people. In the end I was told I could pick up the new ones. That was after 1/2 hour.I'd say your customer service is about as good as ours.
Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Hi everyone. AussieLass - customer service seems to be the same the world over! I've lost count of the problems I've had here as well as in the UK. The good thing about the UK is that, generally, once you've made your point, they do something about it. Here in France, no-one seems to care if you are kept waiting for anything, even if it's something you've already paid for, or your own money from the bank. I think eventually it will drive me mad! Anyway, rant over.
RedRuby - have fun in your new car!
We had a great Bastille Day here yesterday - our local commune had a party, with a beautiful paella (not very French, I know!) with mussels, prawns and chicken, a huge wedge of cheese for one course, and a massive fresh fruit salad with shortbread for pud. Plenty of Sangria as well as lots of wine washed it all down and filled us up for the rest of the day. The Mairie told us he was very happy to have us here, which is great. We are the only English couple in a village where practically no-one speaks English! Our neighbouring farmer invited us to share his table, which made us feel less like spare thumbs! In the evening, the main town had a spectacular fireworks display set to classical music. We had to trek for ages to get to it but it was so worth it. I think the whole town must have been there - and not one tiny bit of trouble. Whether France has gone back to work today is another matter - my DH has, so at least one person here is working!
Dinner today will be HM burgers, with salad and probably chips. Pud will have to be stewed plums with creme fraiche. A branch fell off the plum tree yesterday and I had to pick hundreds of plums up. They're almost ready for eating, so I've stewed them and will freeze them when they've cooled. I have found an easy recipe for Plum Liqueur which I will make with riper plums a bit later this month, and I shall see if I can find some demi-johns here to make some wine. I'll have to go through it all again later when the peaches have ripened.
Anyway, I suppose I'd better go and get some housework done, before I do some more of DH's accounts.
See you all later - have a great day. If it's any consolation, the weather here has been dreary and dull for a few days. We had a bit of sun yesterday, but nothing to write home about.

Morning everyone.
Been awake since about 5am but only just got around to logging on.
Have done some yoga this morning and boy am I inflexibleMy back has been playing up (probably due to lugging hefty DD about - can't wait for her to walk
) so thought some yoga would do me some good. Lets see if I can keep it up, even if it's just 10 mins every day.
Rain, rain and more rain here. Think it's going to be like this all week unfortunately.
Got to do a small shop but as cheaply as possibleNeed stuff like milk and some bananas and eggs so will resist temptation in Sainsburys and only buy the bare essentials.
Not much else happening here. Weather means going for a walk isn't that pleasurable, neither will be playing in the garden so might see if DS wants to do some baking today. He only hovers around so he can lick the spoon :rotfl:
Not sure about tea. H working a little bit late tonight so might have a makeshift or something out of the freezer.
Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning everyone
Another dreary start to the day  Do you think we've had our Summer for this year?
Work as usual, followed by ironing (didn't get round to it yesterday, and I'm fed up of ironing every morning ).
Lunch is egg sandwiches, dinner tonight will be HM Hawaiin calzones - mmmnnnomnom!
Mioliere - glad you enjoyed Bastille Day
Aussie - Customer service, what's that:rotfl:
Redruby - hope you get your holiday booked
Bitsy - Yoga - at this time of the morning  Fair play to you
Well I'm off for a quick cuppa, then I need to put my warpaint on and do my hair.
Have a lovely day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning Guys!
Just waiting for the nurse to arrive but feeling very tired today.
WM is on and DW will be on soon.
OH has taken DD to school with a bottle for her form tutor as he has been great this year. They have taken the gerbil to drop off at her friends too as we are away this evening.
Most of the packing is done and OH is going to load the stuff into the boot after we have checked off everything, so we know its safe and sound.
Ive got about 400 words to do on my essay, then its done:j:j:j
Sold some more stuff on friends ebay account last couple of weeks which totalled about £90.00. So happy about that. Mainly bras that I bought ages ago and didnt fit or not like. This has been put to one side for the holidays.
Anyway, I hope you are all well.
Hugs

Good Morning All
Lovely and sunny here at the moment, have had a decent nights sleep - the first for days, so hope to make some headway with my to do list. There is loads on it.
OH's meeting went very well yesterday and they want us to sign a 4/5 year contract so that is brilliant news. They also want want to know if we have problems at our own depots - that is such good news as there are some people there who if they dont like you try and make your life difficult.
Anyway will be chained to my office desk this morning and ironing this afternoon. OH is cleaning the house and also out in the garden. Our tomato plants arent looking very good at all and we dont know why - will have a look on the greenfingered board later.
Ham and cheese ploughmans for dinner tonight.
Redruby - glad you got a car sorted.
(((hugs))) where needed and Bitsy - hope your back improves.0 -
PenPin - have a great time on holiday.
Essex-girl - congratulations on the contract. That's great news.
