I think that they are rigid if they happen to check the bags and they wont fit in the cage device that they use. There have been a lot of postings on here about people getting caught out with it.we_are_always_skint wrote: »both of my suitcases are just slightly wider than the 20cm limit - is it worth me spending out on two new ones or do you think they will be ok with the extra 3 or 4 cm's? they wont be rammed so i will be able to squash them down maybe if they make me put them in those metal things? im flying out sat from stanstead and back sunday from glasgow and really dont want to waste any money where i dont need too
thanks
I bought a suitcase that was supposed to be within their stated dimensions, but is actually a bit bigger, ie 58cms instead of 55cm and I have used it with Ryanair without a problem, but only once I think!
I've had a look at the situation with my suitcase and I've concluded that it's the wheels that make it longer than it ought to be. So I'm going to carefully drill through the studs that hold the wheel assembly on to the case and then remove them. Then, I will buy some screws with wing nuts on them and fix them back onto the case using these. If I come up against problem at the airport I plan to simply unscrew the wheels and throw them inside the case. How's that for a cure?0 -

Good thinking!
Make sure you also grin at the Ryanair employee who queries the size of the case and finish off with a 'Ta-da'!0
