Master C. I think you must be doing something wrong. I have never had any problems with paying with my Travel Card. Maybe ring Post Office Travel Money Card (02074908717) and verify they have your details correct.

The name you put in the RyanAir site is the name you filled in on your application form for the Travel Money card.

Make sure you choose Electron on the RyanAir site too.... and of course you need the card number on the front and the 3 digit security code on the back just as a nromal credit card.

One thing to be aware of is that if you ring up to load your card with money it takes 24-48 hours to become available (so the woman told me yesterday).

EDIT : Oh... and offer extended until midnight tonight.

    And their latest wind-up. :rotfl:

Must be a fun place to work - they make you laugh.

It's no wind up ! Ryanair are deadly serious and have asked Boeing to look at the feasibility of standing areas.
This was first touted by an Indian airline a few months ago which has also asked aircraft manufacturers and aviation authorities to look at the possibilities.
Standing room only would equate to an extra 25% capacity in passengers numbers per flight!
If it can be done they'll do it and they'll have millions who will be willing to stand.

    Thanks Searcher2 & Edinburghlass.....

I took on board everyones advice, phoned the post office TMC number and spoke to an advisor.

They had supposedly sent me a request by mail for further details to verify my card. This they presumed was because the post office lady (where i got the card) put my name on the card as 'surname' 'forename', rather than the obvious 'forename' 'surname' - thus my card was being declined.

I today have sent off copy of my passport, bank bill and driving licence to the Travel Money Card people, to get my account verified and up and running - so the problem should be resolved i hope. Bit of a pain.

I decided also to apply for a Halifax easycash account - felt two cards are better than 1 as such, incase i have an issue with the Post Office TMC again - also thought it saves again that little extra £££, as of course a bank won't charge any commission for putting money on the card.

Hope this maybe helps people who are deciding what Visa Electron to get - i wouldn't be put off by getting a Post Office Travel Money Card - just make sure when you give your name and address to the post office they put in your name in the correct order.

    Thanks all :)

don't know if ryan air flights have ended thier latest offer or not?? but for future deals, this is what i did.....buy a visa electron from thomas cook, this card is activated as soon as you buy it there ... it costs £3 and the minimum charge up is £30, so it cost £33. You gotta to remember to ask for the sterling one to book the ryan air flights... and take your passport or driving licence with u when u buy it

then i booked flight to dublin from leeds for 3 of us, total cost £6 :money:we are taking 3 little cases each, which we already have from our trip to spain with ryanair, earlier on in the year, so we are sorted

I still have £24 left on visa electron for the next lot of offers :D:D

really impressed with cost of fllights and looking forward to my birthday in dublin :)

for anyone booking the gerona flights to costa brava, we always go to pineda and stay at the thomson family hotel---the golden taurus. Its sooooo lovely and pineda is small and very quaint :j Pineda comes highly recommended..

The Visa Electron card does not void you from taxes. Its ONLY benefit is when selecting what card to pay your flight with - visa electron is free to pay with, whereas other cards such as visa or maestro can cost up to £20 to pay with.

If your lucky though you can actually find flights where the taxes are £0.00 (these are generally special online fares)

    Hope that helps :)
