The court has just responded, saying that if the employer denies knowing her then they cannot enforce judgement. That seems very unfair to take their word for it over mine, the employer is either mistaken or lying, since I was able to provide her employee number and telephone extension etc.
    .

If you are certain that the employer works there, could you launch a separate small claims court action against the company for the cost of the arrears, plus expenses and compensation, for their failure to cooperate with the attachment of earnings you seek? Could be a waste of time and money if you can't prove it, be frivolous, be seen as harassing the debtor or alternatively, their legal department may choke at trying to pull the wool over a judge's eyes and not turn up to defend it or try to settle.

Are you sure she's not a self-employed contractor or temp supplied through an agency? That would mean that she may work onsite but not be their employee. Have you searched information sites that list company directors to see if she's self employed.

So, they say, it is down to me to track her down and provide the court with "the information" - although I am not sure now what "the information" is. Maybe a home address would be a start. My solicitors gave me the details of a company who can track people down for a modest fee, £50 ish, which I am now trying - hopefully they will also take on the case and get the money off her.

A major company would not and should not do this especially if you are going via central payroll/HR.

Send a letter detailing your complaint regarding their lack of co-operation including the employee details/extension recorded delivery to a director, they won't get it but it will be signed for on their behalf and this forces action as no-one does dubious stuff in the bosses name.

A possibility is that she has been married/uses multiple aliases a double-barrelled surname/maiden name/step-parents name and her payroll name is different

If you have an employee number for ex-tenant as an employee of X Bank then I am also surprised the court will not follow this through.

Although it is a good point that she may now be via an agency, then again you say she has the same company car. Maybe just her employee number has changed, could happen if she left and then returned or even a restructuring of the payroll withinm the Bank.

Hopefully your tracing service will track her quickly, but I would be tempted to try and find which dept she works in and who her boss is. Is this women employed at a local branch or a head office?

    Good luck.
