  • I had Sky Movies free for two whole months on trial but had no intention of continuing, simply because the films get repeated very regularly - so regularly that what you will see this weekend is virtually what you'd get for the whole month. Any recorded films are automatically deleted after you unsubscribe (cheek!). Also it doesn't include Sky Box Office channel anyway, for which you still have to pay extra.
  • As a Sky customer of many years, I'd like to know why I'm hearing about it here and not from Sky.

Perhaps because the magazines go straight in the bin!?

Dont know how you havent seen the adverts - they are on all sky channels ie sky one, sky sports, etc, also was in sky mag and on website!! I think the sky mag is great - tells you everything coming up, exclusive info and they even have a sky kids mag:j peace for an hour for me :T

Just a thought - are those people that already subscribe to movies entitled to a (very small) refund on their accounts?

I assume your kidding!! lol, mind you I bet ppl would complain and want refund for least wee thing lol so sad, if that started happening sky would be quite right to say in future cant offer that again as some ppl cant be happy with it, it would start costing too much with ppl wanting refunds for 1 movie channel for 3 days - approx 20p lol
  • So, I am now confused...is this free for the weekend or do I need to subscribe to sky movies? (not that what theyre showing is that great anyway!!!)

How would it be free if you had to subscribe to Sky Movies to get it?!??

Sky Screen 1 (and HD) is free to all Sky subscribers this weekend, irrelevant of whether you ordinarily have the movies or not.

It's a crap selection of films they've chosen though, you'd have thought they'd have loaded a brilliant selection to try and entice more subscribers in the run up to Christmas
  • Paul - I received an email yesterday direct from Sky about this weekend.......... maybe check your spam box?

And like everybody else I was excited about the free screenings, only to find they are completely boring films which most people have already seen. Wheres the kids films? Its the HALF TERM Sky, this so called fantastic offer will not make me re-subscribe to their expensive, rubbish, repetitive movie package!

mind you the line up of films doesnt seem much..ZULU..CLOSE ENCOUNTERS...HULK...SLEEPLESS IN..ZZZZZZZZZ.Need I go on..

Damn right! Ancient films (and some more recent ones that no-one will pay for). Crumbs from the rich man's table!

Typical SKY!. Charge lots for very little QUALITY content, and lots of repeats, so much of the best stuff on at the same time that it can't even be SKY+'d completely. Then they try to make you think you're getting a nice free deal with free movies that have been on Freeview 100 times on average.
Why on earth do you pay Sky for channels that contain adverts? Sky are already paid for the channels by all those annoying adverts they make you watch (or skip), wise-up!

There's unlimited DVD rental, movie downloading, Freeview (Film4 and free movies on most mainstream channels). This adds-up to a better selection than ANY SKY product (especially when it comes to quality/£)

WHY PAY FOR TV? It used to be movies a lot more but now I think it's sports...
Why else would Sky have been so aggressive about obtaining football rights?
This has hurt the game considerably, but that's another argument.
