We are going away for the weekend. Mother Outlaw paid for the family go which is good of her but we will still have a lot of expense that we could do without. We will spend approx £50 on petrol and the M6 toll alone. Yes, I know we could avoid the toll but travelling on the M6 during a BH weekend with a 1yr old and 2.5yr in the car will be stressful!

I dont dare to spend anything but feel pressure that everyone is bored. Will be watching DIY programmes on tv. Will buy easter eggs, wine and beer and nice dinner for sunday, also will rent a film from Telewest, and might make another chocolate cake.

  • Not me.
The kids are going away for the weekend to mother in laws so i don't have to feed or entertain them. We are going to get some wine snuggle up and watch carp on T.V, maybe play board games and talk.

I think I am going to hide my purse and lock myself in my house - just in case I cant resist the temptation!
  • Count me in!

We now have 11 days off because we booked some days leave around the Easter weekend...

As much as I am looking forward to being off work with my wife, I know for a fact that we are terrible with money whilst we're off work.

Weekends are bad enough, let alone 10 days. I think normally if we weren't being sensible we would probably undertake at least 2 DIY projects, do the garden, go clothes / DVD shopping at least once, pop off to an animal park or something, probably go out for lunch once or twice, get several takeaways, pop to the supermarket every day for odds and ends... the list goes on!

I could see all that adding up to a few hundred quid at least...

And we have about £20 to spare right now as well! So it's going to be interesting to say the least!

  • Yes I am dreading the weekend as well - have very little money until payday (26th). Hate when this happens

Yep, am dreading it as well.

Whilst I like 4 days off my friends will want to be out (4 nights instead of normal 2) and that costs loads.

Also will want to meet up for lunch/dinner etc.

Guess the best thing is to plan ahead and organise cheap activities instead.

Its tough when you're single on bank hols as you feel you should be out partying and spending money.

Oh Gosh! Me Granny's coming down form Lancs for the weekend. She is 85, but I'm sure she is an MSE'er. She will manage to get me to buy her some brazil nuts with milk chocolate so that they are in constant supply, a bottle of Benedictine, which she will sip constantly at like a hardened drinker, never appear to get even slightly tipsy, and expect there to be a replacement bottle when she has finished. Expect to go to bingo, when she will then need to go to the toilet when I'm buying the bingo cards. Only insist on easting tesco finest food, when I know very well when she is at home she shops at Netto. But I do love me Granny and she hasn't been to London for about 10 years, so I cant wait. However, when I go up there, she serves me food on a plate the size of a saucer!! Good way to diet I suppose.
