Another £30 today from OH's reimbursement of expenses from work, didn't expect this as it is technically his own money coz he initially used his own spends but he gave it to me since I have done so well, so it's going down even more! My aim now is to get it down to the £900 before the next payday which will be 16th August. Ebay would be an option I suppose, but I am a bit reluctant, coz the one time I tried it, it was so time consuming.

    Well done.
Ebay is time consuming but it can also help you declutter as well as bring in some funds which would really help your total. Perhaps just try a few items to start with to see how you get on. I use turbo lister which you can get via ebay for free and then I do a listing when I have time, then upload all of them at the same time when I want the auctions to start.

More good news! The motivation I got from all you wonderful guys on here has now rubbed off onto my OH. I keep telling him every time I make a payment and he is amazed how much it has come down since last pay day. He emptied his loose change jar last night and gave it to me to put to the credit card - £45 in total…. whoopee. So I did the same (mine was not so healthy though!) and total today going to the credit card is £60.04. I am so pleased. Am I normal getting excited about all this I wonder?! LOL

I have to be really careful though with the food money from now until we get paid (get paid on 16th) – I have 0.74p in the food account and £55 cash in my purse so I need to make sure that I can manage on that. There is not a lot in the freezer but there are a few meals, maybe just 3 though and some veg etc to use up. I also have a good store cupboard and wont need coffee, washing powder etc so I should be ok. If I don’t buy anything today it works out at £5 per day for three of us. I know people manage on less than that, but for me this will be a real challenge! Wish me luck!

And seriously thinking about Ebay too now! LOL

Lol yes you are normal getting excited about it, it's wierd but a great feeling, well done. I saw your sig had changed when I was replying to you on my diary.

I think you should give ebay a go. If you don't like it then don't carry on with it, but at least you can say you've tried it.

Just a wee post for my own records really!
Food money in purse for 11 days - £49.62.
Shopping to get today - potatoes for tea (meat out of freezer).

Edit: been to Lidl to get potatoes, but got oven chips instead (only 50p) so they will be nice and easy to go with the lamb chops and veggies for dinner tonight. Also got 4 tins branston beans for £1 while offer still on, 2 tins tomatoes and a tomato puree. Total spent £2.51. Have decided to add my shopping money I have left into my signature and will try and keep it updated.

    Hi Primula

I've enjoyed reading your diary. Do you join in with the Flylady thread on OS? It's great for getting on top of house stuff, decluttering etc.

Thanks to their thread my house is tidy now and am gradually decluttering everywhere! However I still iron about once a year....seriously!!

You asked what people do when they save some cash on something what they do- I tend to PAD it so I don't fritter it away!

I'll have to get tips from you on the grocery buying I think. I like the idea of putting the food money in a different account.

I've had similar feelings about ebay- keep thinking I should but never quite get round to it.

Well done on your progress so far :T
