MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I have had same problem with flythomascook.com. I paid for Seats Together back in November 2009 for a flight this August. I too was unable to access this during the booking process; tried to Manage My Booking online and was not allowed to alter it. I have had many too-ings and fro-ings about this after making an email complaint (rather than ringing up the premium "customer services" number). I feel that their system is absolutely appalling. No one seemed to know how I could book the seats as they are just plugging Your Seat Your Choice. When I logged in it tried to charge me £90 for something I had already paid £48 for. I am still trying to get through on the premium rate phone line to Thomas Cook Airlines for someone to sort this out. They kindly let me listen to the very long recorded message and then tell me to try later as they are so busy - they then hang up on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never use them again. Be warned.0

I too have booked Your Seat Your Choice for a holiday May 10 and have been on the Thomas Cook Airline website to look at the seating plan for the plane which to my amazement over half of the seats have been booked I was told by the adviser at Direct Holidays that I could only pre book my seats 7 days before we travel, I am worried that hardly any seats will be left to book. I called DH customer service after 15 mins someone answered I explained the situation to her and was advised that YSYC only guarantees that you will have two seats together If I wanted to prebook the seats now I would have to pay another £24 we have already paid £40.
I said that by going onto the TC airline I could prebook my seats now for £24 she said that this was because we had already booked YSYC with them and if I wanted to pre book seats without first paying for YSYC then I had would have to pay a considerable amount more. Which is not true I asked what I have actually paid for in booking YSYC and she said that it would guarantee two seats together anywhere on the plane and also I would be able to book in online and therefore beat the queues at the airport but Thomas Cook do not have on line booking at Manchester Airport so I feel like I have been miss sold YSYC and have been advised wrongly I am in the process of trying to get my £40 from Direct Holidays for YSYC.0 -

I'm not sure about Thomas Cook at Manchester but at Stansted last year we were one of the first to check-in but when we asked for window seats we were told that all seats had been pre-allocated and couldn't be changed.
We'd not paid any extra for 'seats together'.
I can't see them deliberately splitting people up so is there any point to paying for 'seats together' if this is their policy?0 -
We've just returned from a holiday with Thomas cook. Booking seats together now means you can check in online and select seats for the outbound and return journey seven days before you leave the uk for certain airports. This took a lot of the stress out of the return journey and we were able to just drop bags at the priority check in on the way out. I think there is now no need to pay the extra to select secific seats months before now!0

Thanks for your replies I am going to Cuba and I am quite a nervous flyer, what prompted me to book Your seat Your Choice was a collague who had been to Cuba said that they did not bother pre booking seats and from Manchester the outward flight was fine they were seated together but from Cuba they were asked at the airport if they wanted to prebook seats, my collegue said that the amount they were asking was ridiculous so they decided not to bother, but they were allocated seats apart, so she advised me to book seats for the return journey. which I was advised to book your seat your choice but this only guarantees seating together I paid 40.00 for this extra, but if I had gone n the thomas cook airlines I could have prebooked actual seats for £240

I'm well confused by all of this. We are flying to Menorca in July (2 adults, 2 kids) and I have just logged on to the thomascookairlines website to have a look at pre-booking our flight seats to guarantee we will not be separated from the kids, and the prices are £12 per adults and £9.50 per child EACH WAY - this works out at a staggering £86 total to do this - that can't be right, surely???0

Hubby & I due to fly out to Cyprus on 15 May with TC Airlines, with it being only a 4.5hr flight I don't think we'll bother with pre-booking our seats 7 days before, looks like too much hassle anyway going by the previous comments plus the holiday has cost a lot as it is already.:A0
