Cover it in custard and just serve it up.

Put the base tray in to soak / dishwasher.

    Say nothing.

That looks not too bad at all - how about redoing the icing if you aren't happy? I have had many cakes that look a lot worse and tasted really good.

I do an easier icing, I add the juice of the lemon to 3 dessertspoons of granulated sugar and mix gently, spoon over the warm cake straight away before the sugar dissolves, makes a semi-crunchy top and way easier than all that icing sugar sifting malarky

Can ya'll tell I'm lazy?. Fast and dirty or I don't wanna know.

That's what I thought I lemon drizzle cake was supposed to be like, with a crunchy sugary topping.

Oh well, can't take some to work so all the more for me and DS:rotfl:

Looks as though it's been tasted a couple of times - so obviously the taster(s) thought it worth coming back for a second slice - great result :D.

When I do Lemon Drizzle, I mix the lemon juice with the icing sugar and put it inside the grill on top of the hot oven bit while the cake is cooking. I find the heat from the oven helps the icing sugar dissolve better.

Obviously this is no use if you've got a built-in oven or an oven with a grill inside - though you could put the bowl on top of an unused hob for the same effect.
  • I've seen worse, it's got a giant muffin top ;) I also use caster or granulated sugar for lemon drizzle to get the crunchy top ( preferably caster but it depends if I have any in or not)

  • There was definately something in the air last night. I made Nigella's birthday biscuits for the trick or treaters and completely forgot to put the sugar in! They did have a bit of golden syrup in and once I'd iced them they were actually quite nice! Every single kid who took one away ate them on the drive and told me they were good......maybe I won't bother with the sugar next time!
