The isa is due to be pulled tomorrow too.
As for monitoring the MSE initiated threads more - thats quite right. There are huge numbers of threads on the forum and 40 paperback books worth of info written every day. We try and keep abrest but it is impossible to see all.
However it is important that we try and monitor feedback on the official discussion links - as that is one of the deliberate checks and balances put in place. We pride ourself on the fact we react to our users comments on our content and it means we stand up to greater scrutiny.
It doesn't mean we dont look elsewhere - we do - but it means the priority is to react to direct responses to our work.
As for "MSE team only apparent interest in its Sub-Forums is that people posting on them keeps MSE Website going." You couldn't be more wrong, I love the community and the forum even though it causes 20x more aggro than the rest of the site added together, and costs a fortune to keep it going. Actually, its the MSE main site that keeps the forum going; funds all the legal defence we constantly deal with when people want to strike down comments that have been made here, the servers, the abuse team and more. Yet I don't think of it as seperate bodies, for me its all MSE.
It's easy though when you post on one bit of one board to think "why dont they see this" but you have to take a step back and look from the macro perspective its necessary for me to have and realise its not as easy to "see everything" on the site when you're looking at the whole site.

End of tomorrow? Otherwise people won't have a chance to apply after seeing it the MoneyTips email.0 -
Hi dov,
We have been told it will go 'by 5pm', so i would definitely say that if you want it, applying sooner is safer.

I'd just like to say thanks for the 'head's up' that the bond is about to be pulled.
As a result I've topped mine up today (I had intended to wait until I had confirmation that my initial funding had gone through).
Having said that.... since a transfer takes three to four days to clear, will they accept the payment if it was sent before the account was pulled, but clears after?
I guess I'll have to wait and see.....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Our thanks to everyone that has invested a lot of their time into this thread.
I have just opened the 5 yr Bond (unfortunately, transferred my LTSB ISA to A & L on 3 July) and my sister has opened the 5 yr ISA with this years allowance and will be transferring her existing ISA in too.

Just opened this tonight and it gave me a date of 23 July when the funds would be taken from my bank account. So I would assume must be ok.We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0 -
Hello again.
Can I have peeps thoughts on the following please?
My oh has £23600 and I have £13000 in a 1 yr FRISA Bond with N.Wide paying 2.8%. If we were to transfer these accounts to Newcastle's 5 yr ISA we would forfeit 90 days interest.
Do you think it wise for us to do this for the higher interest being paid on this account? I know some will say it will depend on how long the funds remain with Newcastle and I am sure none of us know the answer to that as I would only envisage us wishing to transfer out for a better rate. So lets just say we opened the account tomorrow for an ISA transfer before the deadline and then left the funds in until 5 April 2010, are we likely to be better off or not?
Wish we hadn't transferred our LTSB before this account became available now, but no point crying over spilt milk, just have to get on with it LOL. Or maybe, as this is the larger fund this is the one I should be considering transferring?! wouldn't want to transfer both as with my 5 yr Bond it would take me over the protection limit - not a wise move.
Thanks in advance for any advice given. We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0 -
When exceptional offers like this one come round we can help by pressing the "Like It" button to alert the MSE staff (I think everyone now has the button showing now? If not of course this only applies to those who do).
I hope everybody who feels MSE were late discovering this account makes use of the button in the future to help them out. (I did, though only on the ISA thread).0 -

Good point! It never occurred to me to make use of the 'like it' buttonI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Wasn't allowed by Newcstle's website to submit account details for my initial transfer of funds - it crashed the application in IE and Firefox - so completed application without bank details.
That worked ok - got to confirmation screen - and was asked to transfer funds by Cheque, BACS or CHAPS and supplied with a sort code, an Account no which looks very generic indeed and a unique looking 9 digit reference number.
My question is if I put in the Sortcode, generic looking Account number and unique looking Ref number into my normal internet bank account as an online payment will it transfer to my Newcastle account on the strength of the Ref number or is there a chance of it leaving my account and never appearing at the far end!?
The reason I ask is that Cheque and BACS require quite a bit more effort and CHAPS incurs a fee. Should think it will be ok but am concerned that they didn't list ordinary bank transfer as an option.
Thanks in advance from anyone who has already been through this process!0
