so the persistence paid off then. Well done to OH for jumping through the hoops such that he got the benefit. I hope you will be able to sit down with him, and explain that all that benefit money is accounted for and he can't just use it as personal spends money!!!
See knew 2011 was going to be a good year!

Apparently there is a bit more paperwork before he gets the benefit. Oh I do hope it comes through. I think we'd also get free school meals, that would be a huge help.

Ebay fees depend on what it is you are selling - I think that % taken for CDs is more than for clothes etc. There will be info in the help section explaining it all, but it is a % of the final selling price (NB: If you end the auction early because someone has offered you and acceptable amount, the ebay highest bid will only be higher than the last person and not the final selling price they have agreed. Therefore, if you do this the ebay fees will be less, as they don't know what you paid)
payPal is a % of the value the seller pays (I think).
Obviously, if you do cash on collection, you incur selling fees but no payPal fees.
Hope this helps0 -
I hope by now that the paperwork for the beneift has come through, been signed and sent off. sometimes clothes go quite well on the local board at the supermarket....especially if they are new

No sign of the benefit yet, nothing happens quickly with OH!
Thanks for the tip re clothes.
1st of Feb and my debt stands at 26868.06. That's £255 more than last month. And of course the increase is in my NW overdraft, now £559 higher than last month. AAARGH!
It was a very expensive month, with tax to pay, three family birthdays, payments for three school trips and a holiday, a passport renewal, and an unusual amount of socialising. February should be cheaper, and isn't this a council-tax free month too? I need to get my OD amount now (I've decided not to balance transfer it, though that would be better in terms of interest I don't want any more CC debt).
We only ebayed three things, two of them sold, OH has been faffing around 'getting the pictures ready' for the others for a week and I can see he's not going to get round to it. So I will sort out my own account this month and get on with it. I need to find other ways of raising extra money so all ideas welcome.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
The debt has increased a relatively small amount for such an expensive month. In years gone by it would have been a whole lot worse, I am very sure of that!
So, look forward to reporting in on 1st March - I am sure it will be telling a far more positive story.
Re ebay, could you get one of the girls to do it for you - with all funds going towards their trips etc - this is what I did with the kids' skiing and it worked quite well?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. That is rather a good idea actually hypno. I will file that one away for when the DS's are older! Sorry Seax that the benefit is not there. How about you 'kindly' tell him that you will concentrate on ebay, so that he can concentrate on getting the paperwork sent back.....
