The reason i asked looking for a holiday next year and cannot make my mind up where to go. Want good hotel 4 or 5 star, nice beach but thats not that important as long as lots of space around pool. Good food is very important. Like to lay in sun by day and have a nice meal and drink at night. Its my 50th birthday next year so would prefer adults only. Have been looking at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso in Mexico but coming out a little to expensive. Has any body got any ideas. Thanks.

Maybe if you said what your budget is and if there are any places you would/would not like to go then people could suggest something. Its no good someone wasting their time describing some world class hotel/resort if its out of your budget.

The Letoonia resort in Fethyie, Turkey is one of my all time favourites.

    http://www.letooniaresorts.com/site/fethiye/fethiye_home_english.htm

It is a 5* all-inclusive hotel with bungalows in the grounds (AI includes a la carte restaurants and international brands of drinks). The service is amazing. The hotel is on a private peninsula with private beaches and plenty of pool space.

It can be expensive but if you look at May and October there are often good deals to be had.

Oh, so that's two different things. A MSE Best Hotels In The World thread might be an interesting topic. Not being snooty, but the budget you mention wouldn't pay for flights and a couple of nights in some hotels.

I take it that is your total budget for the pair of you? What duration are you hoping to get for that budget? (as this will also help people to suggest something suitable)

Why will he not go to Egypt or Jamaica, but will go to Mexico?

Anywhere in the Maldives will match your requirements, though prices can vary massively.

Why are you willing to pay so much more for AI? I assume you are big drinkers?
    Gone ... or have I?

Forgot to add if its winter sun hol nov-mar then Gambia is a wondeful place to visit and has some great 5 star hotels doesnt really do AI but can get half board within your budget in a 5 star and I would def not go AI in Gambia as wouldnt experience the wonderful cultures and restaurants they have. Can recommend staying in Banjul the capital or Fajara (if visit Fajara visit the butcher shop which is just that by day and a fab restuarant at night owned by british guy)

    is that total or each?

If £2200 each I can recommend Spice Island, Grenada, Caribbean. Total relentless luxury.

To go again I would have to re-marry but my wife says no one else would have me!

It was an extravagant honeymoon but it was reward for a careful money saving wedding.
