I am so scarred from that run. I totally could give up running, but I've got that flippin half marathon for Bowel Cancer in October, so might give up after that :o I just felt so unfit and healthy on that race Sammy, I honestly would've given up if someone had asked me to

but one bad race doesn't make you unfit and unhealthy babes!!

you had a bad run, and it was a tough course... and of course if you enter these small races you run the risk of looking like a total beginner... whereas in reality you know you can run, you've done it loads of times... you're in the top 20% of the population in that you are doing any kind of regular exercise at all, so compare yourself to that group, as oppose to the athletes you were out with 2 weeks ago...

and in any case, you two said it was rubbish run.... i bet you's weren't even actually last!

I came last by a good 10 minutes in my first 10k this year... but i thought hey well someone has to be and remained positive... i could have so easily thought, "sack this, i'm rubbish i quit" if i'd compared to everyone else there....

Can you use it as a way to focus the mind for the next one scourgey during training?

I've had races before where I havent really been fit enough (Sunday anyone ;)), but I've used that feeling to push myself more in training next time because I dont want to feel like that again...

The more you train the easier and more fun it gets tbh :D

I just seem to have lost all willpower at the minute Becky. I need someone to give me a kick. My biggest downfall is that I don't do pain, and that run was very painful, so psychologically I automatically think that my next one will also be painful.

I will push myself to go out tomorrow and do a very gentle run. There is a nice one down to where the Shetland ponies are at work, it is only 2.76 miles but I think I will need tos tart way back at the beginning again, I have eaten too many banoffee pies, trifles and bags of hula hoops recently, so I will really need to take it slowly

In fact as I was typing this, big boss came out of her office and asked if I want to go running tomorrow lunchtime, so I guess we can say that Scorgy will be back on the wagon tomorrow:T

Thanks hun, I needed a pep talk, although I think you should've been a bit harder on me, but I'll be out tomorrow and take it from there. You still doing the loch ness one?

Sammy was way ahead of me. There were 374 finishers and I was 364th

I'm doing the 10k now, so I will be trying to keep up with you. Sports therapist guy said that my foot/ankle would not hold out for a marathon, definitely not this year

well, that was a bit of a downer at my 'hush hush' meeting. Basically everyone (apart from me to a large extent) is having their caseload jigged around and nobody is happy - that bit doesn't bother me, i've just had 1 small task added. However, we are all being moved into 1 office, again nobody is happy as it's noisy and has a strange 'transient' feel to it. It's a bit of a fait a complit (sp?) though, so no point in saying anything. At the end of the day, I'm not a senior manager anymore, I'm a bottom of the heap admin. person however much my work is 'glammed' up with training and personnel stuff.

It's broken the spell of the place for me though and whilst a couple of months ago I wouldn't have wanted to leave, the thought of the office I'll be moving to has given me the kick to get back to where I was job wise asap.

    okay cards on the table.....

    1. me on my own would be out running all the time...however, I like getting up in the morning putting stuff on and going for a run. I have found just lately that I am having to organise myself so much just to get out that by the time i have done it its taken the fun out of it. I love running....

    2. OH resents anything that I do without him, rightly or wrongly, i started running cos he did and we could do it together and thats gone tits up.

    3. I have run chums and they want me to run with them hence i have to fit into their schedules and not mine (I know reading this that the answer is to do my own thing so I will do but it has just added to the confusion recently)

    4. My wants/needs seem to come last at the minute and again rightly or wrongly by the time i have fought my corner i am exhausted.....

I am not massively competitive (only with myself) so thats not the issue - to be honest I wouldn't have cared less if I had been last - I was just pleased to finish without dying....
