assuming that there is an AST in place, changing the locks should deal with this in the short term - but that is not going to make your landlord any better, nor will going to the police. in fact both things may well aggravate him. in my view you should move out as quickly as you can (but go ahead and change the locks / report to the police in the meantime - although not sure the police will really do anything but worth a try).

obviously if you change the locks you'll have to get spare cut for the others living in your house, and if they know the landlord and are likely to give him a spare then there's little point.

Info clutton has given in post #27 is spot on, I would also advise changing your room lock and putting original lock back on when you move out.

OP, firstly read your AST and be very clued up on every line. It should state that a LL cannot enter without prior notice of at least 24 hrs. Then contact your local council. There will be a department that deals with private renting. Calling the police as being suggested on here is bonkers and quite frankly a waste of their time!

What you need to do is write a letter to the LL, retaining a copy for yourself, stating the law in this situation, and how he is breaking it. If you don't know what the law is, google, as there are countless sites, many goverment backed, which state the rules on letting.

I asked some posts ago if OP has a written tenancy agreement, together with other questions which would help to clarify what sort of arrangement he has.

He has not answered the questions, and in fact has not posted at all on this thread since then.

Seems we may all be talking to ourselves..............

According to #8 and many other posts referencing knickers etc, OP is female.
