I smell porkies.
if T-mobile were going to market it, it would be advertised in shops months ago, theres no benefit in getting 1000 of the things. They would do a nationwide launch and undercut the O2 pricing.
nice wind up op, you got a few people going then0 -
Guys, you can choose to believe or not but I know its happening this week. In reply to some of our comments, the retail staff do not know as its retentions over the phone early and many other staff do not know including customer services etc. The reason behind the 1000 to start is to test the water, its not going to be today as I've just heard there’s problem uploading software. If you have called in last week its was only known within the company Friday, if you call today you still wont be told as staff are not allowed to discuss this yet and will only mention eventually when a customer asks to leave because of the iphone. The reason it’s not on any other iphone forums as this was only discussed on Friday and not many people know yet it has been kept at a very high level, its been briefed out to loyalty staff today and tomorrow. But as I say I know this is 100% true you can choose to believe or not at this stage, I'll let you know when it happens and if one of you can call and the let the rest of the non-believers know I would appreciate this!!0

I'm trying to not get excited about this so I really hope you're telling the truth! If this is true, do you have any idea on pricing? When should I call and whats the best way to get them to offer this?
I have 3 lines with t-mobile and have been with them for many years, when I have upgraded previously I have been told I am a 'high value' customer. Two of my lines are ready to be upgraded, I only want an iPhone on one of them but might be able to use that as leverage!
Also, will all the features work, the same as they do on O2?2022 wins: PS5 bundle, SSD drive, luxury truffles
Debt free and intending on staying that way!0 -
Not sure on pricing etc yet still in discussion. As far as I'm aware its the 3g stock but you can just get the updates. All features should work and the great thing is T-Mobile networks is a lot quicker than o2 so should work a lot better. I will let you know when released and when to call as I say should be this week the stock is currently in the warehouse so just a matter of passing testing etc! If you call at the moment it wont be discussed, and when released all you need to do is say you want to leave and take your lines to o2 for the iphone, but be aware the lines must be due renewal to be offered the iphone. Hope this helps.0

I am not very inclined to believe this, even though as a consumer I want this to be true. I can't see Apple doing this, as Sol00 says. The reason being that having more than one carrier compete in the UK market to sell the iPhone will take some of the iPhone pricing power away from Apple. By allowing only one operator to sell this highly demanded phone Apple can dictate terms - if O2 has to compete with T-Mobile on price, for example, they can push back.
Apple allows multiple operators in other markets even where it is not forced to do so, such Australia.0 -
If this is true it's yet another kick in thr teeth for O2 customers ...0

I wouldn´t be surprised at all if this was true. The same thing already happens in Germany where Vodafone is offering this "off the record" to customers threatening to leave VF because of the iPhone.
If memory serves me right, VF isn´t officially selling the iPhone then but acts as a middleman, refering these customers to "independent" (Vodafone) shops who are then the official sellers of the phone. The info I have about this is that these devices are imports from Italy. That way, Vodafone circumvents the exclusivity T-Mobile has for the iPhone in Germany.
For obvious reasons, VF doesn´t actively promote this but a friend of mine back in Germany did get his iPhone in that way.
So, yes, I can see TMO doing the same here in the UK.
