Are we not all going to say that the one we use most is the best?

I have Halifax, Nationwide, ING, Tesco, ICCI, IF, A&L and Abbey. But Halifax is where most of my accounts are, so I find them easy to use compared to the others.

This of course does not consider security or other technical stuff......about which I do not have a clue.........

I wish HSBC and Barclay were like the Halifax and showed the interest rate being applied to the account.

I think this should be a must for ALL Bank accounts online and paper statements.

The best online banking systems that I have used in order of how good I think they are:

    HSBC
    Egg
    Halifax
    Barclays
Co-op (really is utter garbage, looks like the system was written by a 16 year old on work experience)

I suspect HSBC don't show the rate because their savings products are crap (except the regular saver) eg Flexible Saver (easy access online savings account) is 0.05%. I don't think they could justify spending the money on IT to show the rates since, if anything, it would lose them business.

    have barclays and lloyds.

use barclays mainly and really like that!

lloyds is good coz can control your credit card on the same site but cant control my barclaycard from barclays online banking.
  • I use Natwest daily and Halifax weekly. I do prefer Natwest over Halifax but that is prob just because I have more knowledge and understanding of Natwest.

Natwest is so easy and simple to use and I dont have any problem remembering the three entry numbers/passwords, after all I set all but the first one  Transactions are simple, I can pay everything through the main interface which is easy to navigate. Also if you get 'locked' out as long as you have your debt card details it lets you back straight away. Ok its a limited service but it fullfils my needs untill my actiavetion code comes through. The only downside I have found is setting up new payees. They use the card reader system and if I havent got the card on me at the time I have to wait to set it up/transfer money. Its not a big problem but it is kinda annoying.

Halifax I have limited knowledge of as it only holds my savings account so I mainly only transfer in/out. However I have had no major problems and no mishaps so far. I must also add their phone customer service is the best out of the two :T

I use Barclays and like some have said they find the card reader a hassle it is added security. its the trade off of security vs convienience. I would rather have to take my card out the wallet and put it in the reader along with all the other things you type in than think oooh that was easy to get into so how easy would it be for someone else

I've worked hard to get my debts to almost nil and anything to stop an internet scam artist/scumabg making it go back up is good in my book.

P.S. Mind you interest rates are poooooo.:naughty: So will be changing when back in the black

I'd say the LTSB system is one of the best.

    BUT.....

their Faster Payments system is a joke. It's been pulled for over a year now and still now sign of it returning.

LTSB is still the best. I can control with ease my current, savings & credit card accounts. If I arrange a payment from my Clasic Plus account to my Halifax credit card account the funds are usually credited the next working day, if not then within 48 hours. That's faster than many other banks, building societies etc. that I have used.

Halifax online is also excellent & Nationwide is very good.

I prefer Barclays above all others, having used A&L, Halifax, ING, Lloyds, Natwest, Skipton. Find it very easy to use, security features are good and not troublesome. Search and detailed features of showing accounts are brilliant. Vast range of payment methods are easy to use and clear. It looks far more professional and together than any other online banking system I've used. I also like A&L and Halifax, in that order. I just don't find them detailed enough in comparison. The lack of interest rates on online banking isn't really a problem as a quick search on the main site will pull them up, or just have the relevant page hotlinked.
