The problem I personally found with 3's call centre is that the staff seem to have been specifically trained to be incredibly bullish.
One thing to bear in mind is that one of their golden mantras is "It is the customers responsibility ...". If you tell them that nobody told you about any aspect of the contract or the upgrade, they'll probably just tell you it was up to you to find out.
Another thing i'd suggest as well .. if there's no record of your conversation with them regarding you "personalising" the phone then I think i'd suddenly become a bit forgetful on that aspect as well.0 -

Thanks again. As far as the 'personalisation' (by setting date and time) is concerned, it IS on the record as I wrote a letter of complaint. They did send me a return envelope and have taken the phone back. Worst thing about 3 is that they never acknowledge that they did anything wrong but keep on pestering you and tempting you to stay with them. I know of people who get 600 free minutes for as little as £8 per month as 3 would not let them go once their contract period is over. This is the only reason they are still around as people usually give in to their repeated requests to stay. They would keep on repeating till you'd say sod it, I'll stay. Rather pay them your money or be pestered by these so-called requests.0 -
Almost a year on and I keep on receiving letters from debt collectors (different companies). They threaten me for a court case and home visit by a debt collector in very near future. They never ask for more than £10!!! Why £10? Maybe they want me to pay something in this account so they could establish its existence? Needless to say all those stupid demands for £10 end up in the bin.0

Still getting letters from debt collectors after 3 years of bullying. I am going to send a 'Cease and Desist' email to the latest debt-collectors, someone called '***' who sent an email just this morning.0

Been telling the debt collectors to stop for over 2 months now but they keep on pressurizing me to pay. Got a letter from the infamous Lowell today to pay up in excess of £200. What should I do. I have told them to !!!!!! off as there is no contract still they keep on chasing me. Sometimes I get letters from Redd as well. I am sure my credit history is totally messed up by these people. I am going through financial difficulties as it is and now this thing is troubling me and causing me stress. Oh how I regret becoming a 3G customer in the first place.0

I would request a copy of your credit report from the 3 main agencies - costs £2 each and would show you whats going on.
Cant offer any advice with the rest - might be worth posting on the debt free wannabe board as they are far more experienced in these kind of things.0 -
Just had a look at my credit report from Equifax and it shows a 'Default' against Lowell Portfolio 1 actioned on 11/03/2010. What does this mean? Are they in the right if they ask for money AFTER they have already put a default against my name and a great big red square on my credit file?
Please help as this thing has gone too long and it has deprived me of my sleep for years now. Should I give them the money now?0 -
they can add a default for non-payment of a debt - and as you owed it in 2009 then I would guess that 2010 is perfectly reasonable for the default to be entered on your account.
Is there any reason you didn't sent the "cease and desist" letters back in 2009? did you send the details to OFCOM?
EDIT: I really would seek advice here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=760
