Superdrug - be careful

Whether this is common practice at Superdrug or my store in particular I do not know.
Sometime ago they were doing BOGOF on Colgate toothpaste. On the shelf were Sensitive which I use. When I got to the till, mine were not on offer although there were plenty the same on the shelf. As they were on the shelf they did let me have them for the same price.
Today I went in again and bought some nail polish. Clearly marked on the shelf they were £1.75 each or 2 for £2.99. I only wanted one, got to the till and it rang up as £2.44. The assistant went to check for me and said £2.44 was correct. I went back with him and he took one like mine from the bottom of the display where the price stated £2.44. I pointed out I took them from the top and there were others there as well. Again they let me have it for £1.75.
As this has happened twice now I will be very wary of checking their so called offers and advise others to do the same.

most shops are at this, but I did not realize superdrug was one of them, thanks for the heads upI always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0

The first one was probably human error- i.e someone put out the BOGOF tag in the wrong place- and you got both your toothpastes so you're happy.
The second one, i am assuming ins N.Y.C make-up as that is the nail polish on 2 for 2.99, well in my store (I work in Superdrug) NYC has recently been rebranded, and incidentally the prices have all changed- some up, some down. However your store may not have had the new price strips.
And again, you got your nail polish for the price you wanted, so you're happy.
Both times Superdrug were in the wrong, but did right by you by ensuring you got your products for the right price.......0 -
Had problems before with Superdrug displaying misleading prices. Complain to head office - they need to get themsleves sorted out.0

this has also happened to me got to till price was not what expected from shelf label0

I've not had a problem in Superdrug but I'm always very careful in all shops where BOGOF or 2 for £x are on offer.
I make as sure as possible that the item(s) I've chosen are actually part of the offer and scrutinise my receipt before leaving the store to make sure that I haven't been 'done'.0 -

like which shops, half of the incidents where i had a customer claiming a product was listed at X price and i took them to the shelf where the item is situated the customer was in the wrong as they didnt read the right SEL,0 -
My local M&S is really bad for putting things above the wrong label.
Something goes out of stock, so they move things along. At woolworths I was taught to make the label for the missing item unreadable, but they repeatedly have expensive items above cheap labelsMy TV is broken!

My local Morrisons have a habit of filling empty sections with anything to make the shelves look full, but they don't seem to care what the ticket says in front of the items hence loads of confusion over prices at the checkouts
When I was in retail we had to leave empty spaces when items were out of stock so it was easier for our stock controller to see at a glance what items were needed urgently

I don't think they do things like this deliberately. Shelves are stocked by staff who get paid a set wage, it's not like they'd benefit personally from putting special offer labels in the wrong places confusing customers.
Perhaps mention it to a manager or supervisor when you're in store next, if it happens frequently?0 -

Oh absolutely... but there's a gross inadequacy in their training if they are unable to see the problem with doing so. But where's the incentive for the management to ensure they are more vigilant in displaying correct prices below an item? Surely it's better for their margins to sell the expensive salad than the cheap one?
At Woolies, we were told:
1. there should be no gaps on a shelf. If something was out of stock, the next item would be used to fill the gap, and the label for the missing item obscured.
2. The store could be fined £1000 (by trading standards, I guess) for putting a misleading price label next to an item.
I point the problem out to staff when I see it. One day I will get around to writing a letter - but I don't expect much more than a 'dear me, very sorry, I will tell everyone not to do it again'My TV is broken!
