... half of the incidents where i had a customer claiming a product was listed at X price and i took them to the shelf where the item is situated the customer was in the wrong as they didnt read the right SEL,
would this because the shop labling was unclear?, may be misleading. If the labling was clear enough so many people wouldn't misread it, ... and for the other half of the incididents the shop was wrong.

You may get sent some vouchers
, potentially cheaper for the store if you report it to them than to Trading Standards. 0 -
I don't think they do things like this deliberately. Shelves are stocked by staff who get paid a set wage, it's not like they'd benefit personally from putting special offer labels in the wrong places confusing customers.
Perhaps mention it to a manager or supervisor when you're in store next, if it happens frequently?
I'm sure it's not done deliberately, it shouldn't happen at all, wrong labelling puts the store at risk of hefty fines - it's not just for the customers benefit.

I agree that it shouldn't happen. Stores (well at least the one I work in, presumably others!) do their best to make sure it doesn't. Sadly people who put out price tickets can't stop them being knocked out of place, slid along the shelf, and don't always know which random place shelf stackers decided to put the item! Thats why we always refund customers if a mistake is pointed out, and then rectify the ticketing, as well as selling that product at the reduced price for the rest of the day.0
