Also, the BC platinum guarantees the cheques to £100. It has the £100 cheque guarantee sign on the back of the card.

Should I just transfer £200 over and make the minimum payments for 8 months to build up a credit history or should I just cancel it?
Because HSBC have only just started to share 'in order' account information, Barclaycard probably cannot see that you know how to manage a credit card - hence the low limit.
You may as well use it to build up a credit history. Worth checking your credit report too, just to check everything is accurate and that you are on the electoral roll etc.
Good luck
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Thanks Rafter, I believe I am on the electoral role. It's not a huge problem (I'm just paying my HSBC card from savings rather than stoozing my student loan payoff). May try for a store card next month as well.

Got my Barclaycard through the post yesterday with a limit of £5300.
They did a credit check with Equifax only.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0
