From what you have told me I believe there is nothing that Studio Catalogue can do to enforce that debt against you. Your mother appears to have fraudulently acquired goods by impersonating you.
Were I in your situation I would be seeking legal advice either from a solicitor or from the CAB. You should stop phoning Studio Catalogue and start writing letters delivered using recorded delivery. First of all you need to write to Studio Catalogue's customer service or legal team detailing, with dates, everything that has happened so far. You need also to make it clear to them that you believe that the credit line was obtained by your mother under false pretences and was thus acquired fraudulently. You need also to state that you believe that the debt against you is unenforceable and that all negative credit file references should be removed. I'm not being rude but if you are not experienced at writing such letters get CAB or someone else to help you.
I do not believe you will get any further by hoping that both your mother and Studio Direct will have a change of heart and suddenly see sense. If you want to clear this up you are going to have to take control and start pushing this matter along. Neither of the other parties have any interest in continuing this matter so you must.0 -

Great post!
A lot of good sense there which you would do well to take notice of mishy1.
Plus you're not really helping your mother by letting her get away with this. She obviously has some issues around money.0 -
thanks for ur replies guys. as for getting her arrested even tho i dont talk to her much i hav two kids that do. so i just couldnt bring myself to do it. also i have enough now to get me by with rent and general living but i dont hav the spare £600 to pay of some1 elses debt. i probably cud use a credit card but begrudge it as it not mine. ive spoke to studio an told them she will take it on but they refuse.
shop the old thief or else pay it yourself, you have 2 choices and I know which I would do, shop her all criminals should be punishedmortui non mordent0 -
Personally speaking, I would ask them to PROVE that YOU owe the money! If they can't deliver a matching signature for the period they're demanding payment for, then tell them to find the proof and untill they do stop harassing you.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Halloways post is the way to go. Sympathy for your mother is misplaced, she had no qualms about compromising your financial security, for a load of old tat from a catalogue.0

Another vote for Halloway!
Studio didn't give your mother credit in your name, as far as they are aware, they gave you the credit. So you have to be proactive and get this sorted.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
I agree with Halloway, get help from a solicitor or CAB. And i'd do it ASAP before the debt gets passed onto to a debt agency.
There is no point you ringing them, customer service advisers won't have the authority to give you what you're asking. And from their point of view, they probably just see as you trying to get out of paying it.
I can sort of understand why you might not want to report your mum to the police, even though it's very wrong what she did.
Good luck:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

sounds to me that the OP has bad credit history and now wants a mortgage.
Her mum has agreed to "say" she was responsible so she can have a clean credit history and get said mortgage.....
The OP says she lived at home at the time yet never saw any parcels or letters that would have been adressed to her.
As the account was opened in 2003 and not defaulted on till 2005 can you prove that your mother was making payments with bank statements etc?
What kind of goods were ordered? have any pics of her wearing any of the outfits?
Is she a different size to you? were the things ordered obviously not for you?0
