studio catalogue are wrecking my life

Options
where do i stand with studio catalogue giving my mother £600 credit in my name without my knowlege. she failed 2 pay now ive bad credit on my otherwise great file. ive informed them an they wont listen even tho my mother will admit its her. she hasnt the money to pay it back nor hav i . i so need a mortgage but cant get one due to this. im angry with them for their lack of checks . all she did was give in my details over the phone. needless to say i rarely speak to my mother any more but cant bring myself to get her arrested in order to get a crime no as they suggested. surely the onus shud be on them to sort it out as im innocent ?

With all the love in the world, it's your problem to sort out. For all they know it could be rubbish and you trying to pass it on - especially if you won't have her arrested for what is essentially fraud.

If you aren't speaking to your mother anymore then why worry about getting her arrested?

If you can't afford the £600 to clear it, how do you plan to pay for the mortgage?

Perhaps OP doesn't have enough left over at the end of the month to pay £600, and between paying her mother's debts and paying for somewhere to live, I'd make it a priority to pay the mortgage.

She hasn't got a mortgage. That's the problem - she wants one but can't get one now because of her mother's debt.

OP you need to report your mother for fraud. Otherwise she'll probably do it again. What she did was illegal.

OP, let me make sure I've understood this:

Your mother phoned this catalogue company and gave your details and then that company extended a line of credit to her in your name. OK so far? Whose address was given then? Your address or your mother's? (I'm assuming you have separate addresses).

Either there's something you aren't telling us here or your Mother has committed fraud against you and the catalogue company. If the latter is indeed the case then the catalogue company has a claim against your Mother not you. The only way you are going to get this resolved is to involve the police if the catalogue company won't listen.

I think you either need to report your mother to the police, or find a way of paying the debt back.

I am always disgusted with parents who dump on their children (however old their children are). Stop her now. She'll do it again otherwise and always have excuses.
