Not all parts do. The specific parts which do apply to public off road places are mentioned in various acts and are generally (but not exclusively) limited to the most serious offences such as drink driving and dangerous driving etc. Driving without due care and attention applies to a public place and so does driving without insurance (but not driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, funnily enough), but section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (dealing with traffic signs) does not apply off road.vikingaero wrote: »Also the Highway Code and any relevant Road Traffic Acts would apply to any land where the public has access.
This sounds like a far more likely explanation. It depends on the road layout. The exit lane of a petrol station may be on a public road with a No Entry sign.0 -
for failing to stop at zebra crossing (no one was on it, just waiting apparently)
WOW, well that's 5 years in solitary right there!and not seeing (ignoring according to the police) a no entry sign into a garage forecourt.
No wait, that's gotta be life behind bars surely!I accumulated a further 3 points for SP30 (speeding 50 in a 40) on 04/05/09
Hang on! A life sentence is too good for him... hang him now!
Some of you need to get back to polishing your Halos

I just hope that it isn't one of your family members that the OP wipes out then.:rolleyes:0

Wipes out?? Let's look at the OP's heinous crimes.....according the OP obviously
He failed to stop at a zebra crossing, noone was actually on the crossing but some were waiting. Everyone of us has done that at some point.
He enters a garage forecourt through a no entry sign with dubious legality but either way it's hardly the crime of the century.
He gets 3 points for 50mph in a 40 zone. How many on here can say they haven't got points for speeding? If you haven't then you are either very, very careful, you don't drive much or you're very lucky!
All of the OP's offences were in a period of 8 years, not 6 months or 3 weeks but 8 years!!!
Put them all together & it hardly makes him the Osama bin Laden of the motoring world now does it?
He asked for advice on whether having his licence revoked was correct (in my view yes!) Yet suddenly the moral high ground is snatched by some posters & the guy's not fit to push a wheelbarrow.
One poster on this thread has admitted to 3 points for motorway speeding plus a speed awareness course for another offence but not one criticism... are the OP's "offences" any worse?? NO!More like too many people who can't smell a troll.
Is this aimed at me?Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

The OP is a self confessed menace on the road happily blaming authority for his wreckless driving and blatant disregard for a law.
My safety is compromised the same as everyone else's with this fool on the road.
To rack up so many points before even passing a test is ridiculous.
Totally agree with you there. :T0 -

It is not an offence to not stop at a Zebra Crossing if there are no pedestrians on it, so the OP was clearly not giving us the full picture was he? .. he got nicked for it, so there were people on the crossing.
He is clearly a menace.0 -
Wrong
Rule of thumb: If there is a seperate entry and exit then the highway code applies (one entry point but an in lane and an out lane would constitute the seperate entry/exit).
Highway Code and Law are not necessarily the same thing. Large parts of the Code are only advisory, not mandatory.
There would HAVE to be a TRO in place for the no entry sign at a petrol station to be enforceable/prosecutable for the actual offence of ignoring a No Entry sign.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Possibly, or perhaps it was another offence of overtaking within the controlled area of the crossing (the zig-zag lines on approach) which is an absolute offence whether pedestrians are there or not. If that is the case and the reporting officer saw a pedestrian very close (which brings to mind the whole purpose of that law) then he was quite right in "having a chat" with the driver. It is not an offence to not stop at a Zebra Crossing if there are no pedestrians on it, so the OP was clearly not giving us the full picture was he? .. he got nicked for it, so there were people on the crossing.

Not really the OP said
"for failing to stop at zebra crossing (no one was on it, just waiting apparently)"
This means to me someone was waitng to cross and he was given the points for failing to accord precedence, an offence in itself.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
