Seat Altea XL SE or Honda Civic 2.2i-CTDi ES
Options
Hi all looking for a wee bit of advice ...i currently have a megane and two years ago i had major issues with it ..the pump broke up and went trhough the system ...it wouldve cost us £4,500 to fix but Renault paid all but £800 as it was just out of warranty ...well the other day i was driving to work and lo and behold the same warning light appeared and the car started chugging again (this happened the first time) now i have it booked into the garage on monday to be looked at but in the mean time thinking it might be thte same issue as before i have started looking for a new car ...
of all the options i have seen i like the most the two types above there is a bit of a price difference the seat is £16,640 and the civic £19,000 but the seat has 0% finance the civic 6% finance ...now we really cant afford a new car ...but i need a reliable one as i work shifts and do alot of driving to uni etc etc...when i was looking at second hand ones they had huge milage and wernt a hell of alot cheaper ...
i'm thinking i dont want the same trouble as i currently got so thinking maybe new is the way to go ...i know cars loose value the minute they leave the forecourt but i was told (by the honda guy) that the civic noted above was an awful lot dearer (25k) and has in fact came down very much ...and there arnt any second hand hondas in stock
between the two cars they are quite similar they both have the essentials and they have similar added extras ...the civic looks nicer but the altea isnt exaclty ugly
i am looking for a car that is reliable after the trouble i have had with the megane i want something that is reliable ...i have heard honda are very reliable but i have also heard that seat are as well ...
can anyone suggest what choice i should make and any alternatives ...there is only hubby and me but i need to have a big boot for my business stuff i need it to be diesel and i need it to be reliable those are the main considerations ...
i have spoken to the honda guy and he tells me the seat 's engine is an old one etc etc ...you know how they come up with all these were better than them stories ...surprisingly the seat guy didnt he said hondas are good cars ...
anyway any advice would be very appreciated
