Cars that only cost £35 a year for Road Tax?
I've searched the forum and also had a brief scout around the motoring section but can't find any info so...
Can we make a list (or add a link to a previous thread) of any makes and models of cars that are in the £35 Road Tax bracket.
My daughter has just bought a Smart Car which is the low tax rate and I will certainly be thinking of changing my car in a year or so, also for a low tax one but probably not a Smart Car.
Thanks in advance and I hope this will help anyone else who would rather have a smaller car tax bill.

Be aware that not all Smart cars are in the £35 bracket! The older ones are usually in the higher band (£120ish). Always check the CO2 emissions against the tax bands shown here

Thanks for that... I actually have a Skoda Fabia (02) and, although I feel like I should go for a 'smaller' car I'm pleased to see it on the list.

Here's a website you can click on the desired VED and it'll give you a list of cars available:

I sometimes wonder at the amount of focus people are putting on the tax disc cost of the next car they might buy. It is a neglible cost in the context of the total cost of owner ship where costs like depreciation, fuel, maintenance and servicing, and often insurance are higher cost elements.
I'd consider all these elements and may be pick up one of those Mini's that might be in a tax bracket above the £35 mark because you'll save it many many times over in lower depreciation costs for example.0 -
It is also worth considering how the car will be used. A lot of the £35 tax cars have diesel engines but if they have a DPF filter in the exhaust system they will clog up if they are only used for short journeys.
You can look on the owners forum for virtually any make of car and find disgruntled owners of diesel cars with DPF filters who have waste time and money making unnecessary journeys (50mph+ for 15 minutes) to try and clear the blocked filter. If there is not a motorway handy then the poor owner ends up having to have the car towed to the dealer
As AdrianHi says, look at all the costs0 -

Indeed, it is only £85 a year difference to next band of road tax, that is a very small part of the running costs of any vehicle.
Oh and of course, there are no guarantees that it will stay at £35 a year.0
