Eviction Looming - UNFAIR!!!!

Talk about kicked when your down, we live in a rented home, we have had bedbugs, which the council say were there before we moved in. My wife and brother in law have both lost their jobs, as a result i stopped my brother in law from eating as my wife and my son are my respobnsibility, not my brother in law. He works at the pub of which the landlady is also our landlady of the home, she seems to resent the fact we have treated our brother in law this way. As a result of the bedbugs the council advised us to get rid of all wooden furniture which we put in the back garden. Yes it looks a mess, but with the funds so low and just 1 wage to support me my wife and son it is almost impossible to get it cleared.

Anyway she (the landlady) came round and said why is the front door dusty and why hasnt the garden been weeded etc etc, plus she wants the back garden clearing, we have until next week to do this or she is throwing us out.

We will do this and i am selling everything i have to rasie money to ensure the home is clean, but i still feel even if we do this she will get rid of us.

If fed up is how i feel on a good day, today is a very bad day, i just dont know what to do for the best. My wife is in bits, we cant afford anywhere and because i only have my son weekends council have been no help and we cannot afford to move.

Who is your landlord? The council or the pub landlady? I don't see why the council are involved if this is a private let.

If the accommodation is tied to anyone's employment in the pub, you may have less rights to eviction.

i stopped my brother in law from eating

Why and how did you do this? Do you normally feed your brother-in-law? Why doesn't he fend for himself? I also think it uncharitable to not feed someone who has lost their job, even if it is only tesco value pasts rather than steak and chips.

are you upto date with the rent?

So the landlady was more concerned about the dusty frontdoor than the her flat's furniture in the garden?

Why did the council tell you to put the wooden stuff in the garden?

Bed bugs live in fabrics and are killed by heat (I know this from working in hostels in Australia) so if anything you would have been better putting all of the mattresses, sofa, curtains and your clothes in the garden; although I'm not actually sure what putting everything in the garden would achieve as we just don't have the hot weather in this country in order for it to do any good.

Have you been bitten? Who has confirmed that you have bedbugs? Is it your furniture or the landladys? If you do actually have them the mattresses will need to be professionally treated. I'm sure someone with more rental experience will be able to tell you who is responsible for this.

Is your brother-in-law named on the lease? If he is unemployed how is he working at the pub?

as a result i stopped my brother in law from eating as my wife.

:rotfl:I'm so sorry, I mis-read that as you stopped your brother in law from eating your wife!!

Could you clarify that this is a private let, that is not connected to any job?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Since i got married we let my wifes brother live with us as his parents left the area, he paid £40 weekly and we bought the food, which he could freely use.

We started after 4 years to feel as though we couldnt have a proper marriage until we had our own place.

He lost his job as did my wife, he stayed in his room all day and went out every night, and refused to give us anything for board, and said we was being cruel by not feeding him and he says he lives on vitamin yet manages to go out each weekend!

Hes bigger than me so I dare not have it out with him!

The landlord of the house is also the landlord of the local pub, we have had run in at the pub due to pool, as i was secretary of the league and they have 3 table and on the committee, I resigned and said i would not be part of it while they was on it (this was months ago)

I just manage to get the tesco stuff but him not paying is making it hard, especially when he goes out and we are selling everything to make ends meet.
