How to complain to Audi?

Options
I’ve been told that the pump in the gearbox of my automatic Audi A6 has gone and Audi are suggesting a new gearbox and that this is going to cost £4500 to replace. Seeing as the car is only 6 ½ years old (registered 03 plate) we are understandably upset and angry that such a new car has broken down in such a way – particularly from a company who protest to “embody technological perfection”.

I know I could get it reconditioned for less but that seems a bit risky, so, does anyone have any advice to help me follow this up with Audi? (rather than just the dealership).

more chance of Nelson getting his eye back than Audi doing anything to be honest. The car's nearly 7 years old and gearbox will be seen as wear and tear.

Personally, i'd get down the brakers and scrap yards to find a second hand gearbox. You'll get it a lot cheaper.

Depending on which model A6 it is, it may not even be worth £4,500.

if it is in good condition, it'll be worth 6k....but not sure what angle the OP is going to use to complain though. It's an old car, and old cars neeed new parts.

Audi and VW are the same company. But the car is over 6 years old...it's an OLD CAR. I really don't see how Audi are suppose to pay for wear and tear on such an old motor.

has it had regular transmission oil and filter changes? auto boxes really need these to keep them in good condition.
as far as claiming from audi is concerned i dont know why you would expect them to pay for this? they dont know how the car has been treated, maybe its spent its life towing heavy loads around, this wont do an auto box any good.

nothing is perfect, especially where cars are concerned, why do you think they have a huge spare parts network,if thier cars were perfect then they wouldnt need parts.

if you buy a big expensive car (when i say expensive i mean to buy new,not the price you paid) it is innevitably going to cost a lot of money to repair when it goes wrong.

best advice is to get it to an auto box specialist and have them fit a recon'd pump to it. and dont forget regular transmission fluid changes (and filter)

Is it the !!!!!! CVT box by any chance?

I can recommend a few places though on a happier note...

AutoLock in Crewe, Selector Gearbox in Speke and a firm up in Preston who deal with loads of the !!!!!! CVT Audi lumps.
