They say that anyone under 5foot, should really use a booster seat, as the seatbelt isnt correctly positioned.

As for car seats, the price you pay is what you get, and they do say, dont save on the price of car seats, as it is there to protect your little 'un
I agree. I don't like that she doesn't use one in her own car but her parents are estranged and I can't approach her mum. But if my niece mentions that she has one in my car, daddy's car and nana's car then maybe her mum will think again...

They're so cheap too by the looks of it. I can't imagine why she doesn't have one.

Due to a long saga, i wanted ISOFIX, but couldn't have it.

I went to the safety reports and found this was as safe as an ISOFIX seat in safety tests...the Kiddy Life Plus

    http://www.kiddy.de/eng/index_eng.html

To buy one, Kiddy recommended that I use thier internet traders
    www.laluz-menden.de
www.kindersitze-shop.de (homepage also in english version)
    www.marama-kids.de

as the seats aren't available in UK, so I bought from laluz who was selling on ebay. Winning bid + paid by paypal on Sunday night, chair arrived on Wednesday, for just under £100.

The seat lasts until the child is 11 years old, and apparently Mothercare will be stocking the seat in September.

And my 1 year old son loves it! Really easy to use, he loves the impact safety cushion that goes on his tummy...he bangs it like a drum for lots of journeys (Joy!!!!) ...and IMO (which counts for nothing here!) it seems a lot safer than the other seats we tried out in Mothercare as the seatbelt actually goes over him (through the cushion) rather than anchoring the baby seat to the car seat.

  • after readjing this thread the Renaissance car seats sound good to me, but I keep reading about its size. We only have a micra sx 5 door but small. Does anyone who owns one know if renaissance will fit in my car ok[ ie without having to push front seat so far forward no one can get in!]. Need quick reply if poss as I want to take advantage of boots 1000 and triple points while it still on today Thanks
  • Have a look at the Britax Fit Finder, it'll tell you if it's suitable for your make and model of your car :D

I had a Renault Clio when I had my first Renaissance and it was fine.

I always have the baby seat behind the passenger seat but if you're a smallish driver (like me) but you have a biggish passenger then put the seat behind you instead.

...and its cheaper than a renaissance (even with points I think) and lasts until child is 11 yrs old.

I got a fantastic seat, to last til age 11, from germany which really fits all cars as it depends on the seatbelt, not the moulding of the seat. Cost £92 inc p +p. See this post for more details.

  • My friend is a fully trained staff member in the car seats department of Mothercare.

She has had to go through a huge amount of training in order to know which car seat fits which car.

Pop into your local Mothercare, if you have one that has a car park to the rear all the better. Go in the car and they will find the one that fits your car.
