I had actually said something like that to someone, in the face, without a wink for ripping me off. And when that person threw the first punch, in front of many witness, he is guilty of assault. Make things even worse for his children. Of course I pressed charges to make sure they suffer when he is locked up. :D

That is getting even. No one cared about me when he ripped me off, so why should I care about his children when he was locked up?

Why would you say anything like that? You say these things but maybe don't fully understand just how wrong they are? All I say is shame he didn't hit you harder! (sorry WW for including this in your thread btw I wish you well!)

what a nasty and unnecessary comment - even with a wink
I found it quite funny and I think it is probably a fair comment to make on the morality of the people in question. After all, they are prepared to 'use' their children quite cynically to get out of their responsibilities. All the comment does is draw attention to the aspect of 'using'.

For me,it would only be unacceptable as a real suggestion to deal with their problem. It is the outrageousness of the suggestion which makes the comment so apt.

Er, because his behaviour isn't his childrens' fault?

Two wrongs and all that. Maybe it's just me.

His behaviour may not be the fault of the kids, but he has a moral duty to act responsibly to ensure their welfare.

As the person in question committed a criminal offence are you suggesting that they should not be penalised for doing so just because they have children? I certainly don't agree with that.

There are too many moral guardians policing the forums these days. And well done Lemonslap for climbing up on your soapbox to express disgust that alvin should feel no pity for the children of a criminal and then not only advocating an act of violence carried out on Alvin, but suggesting that it wasn't violent enough.

Is it any wonder the justice system isn't seen as a proper deterrant these days?

All right, I will keep my mouth shut now.:lipsrseal Sorry WW for going off track. Just remember, the is not a single person in this thread that will pay your lost. You do what you have to do to get what is yours back. It is not your kids, remember that!

    Hi Welshwoofs,

Like (lots of) others, I've been reading your trials and tribulations, and, whilst I have nothing particularly constructive to add, want to wish you and Mr WW well.

FWIW, I bought a dream house a few years ago. Specific requirements were nowhere near as difficult to fulfil as yours are, and my vendors were an absolute dream - so obliging, and really kind. The only thing I wanted to say to you is that (despite it being an easy transaction) I have been soooo happy in my house - I still love it. I wish you both all the very best, and keep at it. If it's the right place for you, then all this crud WILL be, if not ever quite forgotten, at least unimportant once you get the house, move in, and make it yours.

Like (lots of!) others, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope the eejit vendors see sense, realise just how much trouble they're in, and everything works out for you.

  • Hi WW,

I too have been following this thread with dismay for you, but have had no useful input to offer.

However, I have just seen this morning on local BBC news, what appears to be a similar situation in that a man from Margate seems to be liable to pay a six figure sum for failing to complete a purchase for his father because his buyer has failed to buy, having lost their buyer. It seems that therefore, either he, or his buyer has exchanged without having funds to complete.

The full story is to be told (reportedly) on BBC South East Today at 13.30 and at 18.30. I'm not sure if people from other regions can view this somehow on iplayer?

  • Sorry, should have looked first -

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/8181899.stm

    have found the story.

    "
Donald Smith wanted to move his father, Henry, who has Parkinson's Disease, out of his second-floor flat in Margate.
The £425,000 shop and flat were to be sold to a property dealer who could not obtain finance after contracts were exchanged.
Donald Smith is now facing legal action by the owner of the bungalow."

    And "

He is being sued by the bungalow owner, who is now selling the property for £75,000 less than Mr Smith had agreed to pay and wants him to meet the difference.
Meanwhile, Mr Smith wants to sue Mr Levin for his losses which could run to more than £100,000."
