i have been impressed by everyone on here! well done to all!:T.
I will have 176k on the button owing from august for 30yrs and plan to start OPing, thought i would gear myself up warn the misses and tighten our belts....
Have some savings (back up plan redundancy money) in an isa, i work in the building industry and no one is building at the mo, so keeping my pennies safe, am aiming for a 10 year pay off but we would like another little bean so i guess thats more like 15 - 18 years to be MF any hoo hoping to overpay by 400 a month thats the max at the mo. will try the ebaying thing and we already do major voucher savings at shopping so that could creep up a wee bit.
thanks S

My mortgage is £253kish , maybe we should have a thread to see who has the highest mortgage on MSE.
Good Luck with the OP.0 -
It's about 117k now, but was £143 when I first had it.Mortgage overpayments since November 08: £32,500 - balance is now £81,200
On a Lifetime tracker +0.38% repayment mortgage
Hope to be Mortgage free by 2015! (or maybe 2014 if the rates stay low.....)0 -
my mortgage is 161k, initially 167K. I know what you mean, when i read some of the diaries and the mortgages are only 50K i get a bit disheartened and think whats the point as my overpayments seem so tiny in comparison to the actual mortgage. I am trying to be positive though and keep the attitude that every little helps!Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

Mine at the highest was £120k.
Don't be put off...I see people with low mortgages talking about struggling to get them paid off in 10 years and I'm sitting here working out what I would sell to clear their mortgage :rotfl:
saveup, does your OH work? As well as eBaying, there are a number of other money-making as well as money-saving options. I don't work outside of the home but all our overpayments have come from money raised doing bits and pieces.
When you start with a large mortgage it does seem an never-ending and impossible task but you can get it down and the overpayments do start to make an impression sooner than you think.
For further ideas take a look at the 'up your income' board, 'the 'old-style moneysaving' board and the 'GIOL' (gambling) board for matching betting (not gambling) for ideas. It all helps
Look forward to reading how you are getting on.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

will start with payments august the 1st when current mortgage goes to new one... 6.22% to 4.85% had to fix it for security reasons (i dont like a gamble)
